Step it up or stop posting. You are cluttering up all the great posts about intelligent people getting a great bargain on a great HD DVD player.

Oh, and Paramount told me to say hello...they said the Walmart sale was mind bottling.
Isn't it "Mind Boggling" and not Mind "bottling"?

Its from a HD DVD exclusive film. You guys wouldn't know it.

My A2 purchased today at the $98 sale was made in China. I didn't check the build date.

Can someone take a picture of the date manufactured stamped on the $98 Toshiba player? It would make great fodder material.

This isn't really anything strange. Check pretty much any dvd player and you'll see the same thing. Of course desparate fanboys will try to spin ANYTHING into a format war issue and a negative but this is normal.

Just take a look at 60 gig ps3 models. From production to hitting a store shelf can take a full month ore more. Sony stopped makeing the 60 gig model what 4+ months ago? Yet there are still tons of them to be found in stores. It's normal.

Lol they havn't been selling very well.... yet enough to help toshiba outsell EVERY SINGLE stand alone blu-ray player from Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, sharp, and philips COMBINED.

HD-A2 has been selling great. There is nothing strange about seeing produciton dates months old on players. This is just really sad desperate fanboys looking for ANYTHING to make them feel better about the absolute firestorm HD DVD has started sparking great sales, interest, and support for HD DVD.

If you are talking about static technology based products like dvd players and toilet paper, you might have a point. However, HD DVD is suppose to be cutting edge technology and a new platform. Having them sitting in warehouses 10+ months is not a good sign. ROFL.

Considering how poorly blu-ray stand alones have been selling getting beat by players that were only "sitting in warehouses for 10+ months" what do you think the dates on the Sharp, Panasonic, Samsung.. players are? Just another case of desperate fan boys grasping at straws. Always trying to spin great news into a negative. HD DVD just moved a crap load of HD-A2's this month. Get over it.

Funny that back in Apr it was reported that Walmart purchased 2 million players. This would make sense since it would take awhile to produce that order. If you think that all these players just appeared outta thin air you are only kidding yourselves. This campaign must have been in the works for some time at this magnitude. And if you think the BD side can match it think again on that one too. A little too late in the season for that. This would indicate that the deal with Walmart and Kmart were specifically held for this holiday season when they would do the most damage and not be able to counter in kind (BD).

And to think that the BD side thought that the BOGO sales was the be all end all. Not looking so smooth anymore. Hum, give away media without increasing your base or practically give away hardware and boost your base. Sounds like a no brainer in retorspec.
