Talking Kmart: Exclusively stocks HD DVD Players

Toshiba spokesperson Jodi Sally said Kmart, which is owned by Sears, would exclusively stock Toshiba HD DVD players in retail stores due to their lower price.

A clerk at the retail chain's Anaheim location confirmed the store only carried Toshiba players.

He added that Kmart also carried Sony's PlayStation 3 video game console with Blu-ray drive in its gaming department.

On January 22, 2002, Kmart filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection ...

... Kmart closed more than 300 stores in the United States and laid off around 34,000 workers as part of restructuring the company.

Fewer than 60 Super Kmarts are still open, with most having been closed during the two rounds of closures during 2002 and 2003.

Cutting costs instead of selling relevant products is usually the sign of a dying business.

Sour grapes, but would you be saying this about Blockbuster? You know they are a dying brand, major store closures, a focus on online business models, lots of pink slips, costly quarters and high churn rates.

Bah, Sears and Kmart both kinda suck in my area. I like Kmart, really I do. I felt really bad. But we have one Sears (at the mall) in Omaha, and maybe 2 or 3 Kmarts, which are kinda...old.

Then they turned the company around and purchased Sears. But lets leave that part of the story out.

I don't get it, BB also sells movie. And not sure what does that have to do with anything.

I guess Iphones, any music with the f word in them, and hybrid cars, make that cars in general aren't mainstream then because Walmart doesn't carry them, hence they COULDN'T POSSIBLY be mainstream
