Default Blu-ray Hacked- Burn Movies To Your PS3

Until the more scary details of HD DVD's and Blu-ray's DRM protection are implemented, both formats will be vulnerable to piracy:

Dumping movies and decrypting them are two different steps. The first one is really easy, the second one is the major challenge. So far BluRay hasn't been hacked, HDDVD has.

If you had read all the links, you would know that it's already has been done on Blu-ray, genius.

The same process that was used to hack the HD DVD titles (AACS itself is still not hacked) could be used to hack the Blu--ray titles. The add-on is just a lot more accessible than a drive for Blu-ray, so the Hackers focused on that first. Blu-ray titles are equally vulnerable using the same software playing Blu-ray titles.

The Software itself will almost certainly be disabled by future HD and Blu-ray title releases and a new release will be made removing the weakness in the software that exposes keys.

Blu-Ray uses the same protection as HD DVD (AACS). If AACS has been hacked on HD DVD, it's been hacked on Blu-Ray.

So until BD+ is implemented (and subsequently hacked), Blu-Ray is just as vulnerable as HD DVD.

I think it's pretty much open to debate if BluRay has been hacked. First there are still no BluRay movies to be found (as opposed to HDDVD). Second the keys used to break the HDDVDs where found in the japanese WinDVD8 version which supports HDDVD only. So without the keys there are no decrypted BluRays. So BluRay may be hacked but not cracked

Any format in the market is eventually going to be cracked.

So true. Funny how fans from one side or the other will use the "but it's been cracked" argument but every format has been and will continue to be.

There is no way around it...

Only because there aren't any consumer-available PC drives that allow you access to the DSD RAW stream.

The reason for that? Because nobody cares about SACD. You seem to have an unhealthy obsession with it, though.

Comedic musings aside you hit the nail right on the head. They don't want the raw stream copied and to date it seems to have worked by not releasing burners or drives. Why would they? Who's going to buy DSD mastering equipment for their own PC and have analog medium or high resolution digital sources to take advantage of the DSD recording process? Nobody. There are over 4,200 SACD titles and no bootlegs.

Indeed, although one can also look at it as Sony limiting fair use.

Nobody *has* to allow their format to be used for other purposes besides its intended purpose. SACDs are for listening to, and that's all you can do with them. I kind of wish the same applied to HD-DVDs and BR discs, but you'd have to have another media format for PCs in that case.

Let me rephrase, any format which people actually use. Otherwise what is the point?
