Default HD DVD torrents easy to find - many titles cracked

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=120611

I won't post the list here, but as you can see all these titles and more from HD DVD have been cracked. Nothing has shown up yet from Blu-ray discs, perhaps the people doing all the cracking don't think Blu-ray will be around long enough to bother with it?

The following HD DVD titles have all been cracked.

12 Monkeys
Aeon Flux
Apollo 13
Batman Begins
Casino
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Riddick
Constantine
Enter the Dragon
Equilibrium (Jap)
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Happy Gilmore
Harry Potter GOF (UK)
KK
Last Samuri
The Matador
MI:1
MI:2
MI:3
The Mummy
Pitch Black
Red Dragon
Sahara
Scorpion King
Serenity
Superman 1
Superman 2 Donner Cut
Superman Returns
The Pianist (UK)
The Thing
Total Recall
Troy
U-571
V for Vendetta
We were Soldiers
WTC

Blu-ray Hacked- Burn Movies To Your PS3
PS3 with the new Yellow Dog Linux allows for movies to be copied to the HDD now.

So users with this particular version of Linux installed can do it, any OS or just a PS3 running Yellow Dog? Has anyone been able to burn the files to a Blu-ray disc yet and watch it on a player?

But even if you could imagine how quickly the HDD would fill up!

Do you really expect a person with even a little common sense to think this can't be done for Blu-ray? Their DRM schemes are almost identical except for an extra draconian layer on Blu-ray, which has not even been implemented yet.

That is great news for HD DVD owners becase I don't know about you but I can't afford to buy every movie released. I will continue to buy about 3 a month but this is great for movies worth a one time watch.

But why would anyone want to do this unless you had broadband speeds >20Mbps? It just seems like more hassle then it’s worth!

That's more what I was trying to show. There is nothing that can be done to stop the flow of information. AACS was "broken" by sniffing for the key that Power DVD used. The method for encryption still isn't broken for either yet, but that doesn't mean it isn't going to happen. The Yellow Dog seems more troubling in that it doesn't require the key to be provided by the person ripping. That could actually constitute a genuine crack, I'm trying to find more info on it to see what happens.

Back in the early days of DVD rips, the only method prior to DeCSS was to play the movie in the player to acquire the key, then run a program which played the movie and recorded each frame as it played. It took a long time but it worked. Same with HD DVDs and BDs, as long as you can play it, it can be recorded. All the copy protection does is make it an inconvenience, it won't ever stop people. It's digital, it can be read so it can be cracked.

I can just leave my bittorrent program open overnight and while I'm at work and it should be downloaded in 2-3 days.

Not like I have to actually do anything but let it run while i'm sleeping or at work.

So, is this good or bad for HDDVD? People might buy less HDDVDs and studios lose their faith in the format but then again it will promote HDDVD without a doubt.

I believe that if it can be built, it can be broken. The only thing not cracked to date is SACD, because there was never a PC drive or burner created.

What makes you suggest I think otherwise? I'm simply showing how many torrents are up of HD DVD movies.

Is there a burner out already for HD DVD?

The reason you don't see Blu-Ray titles hitting the 'net is because the drives are still hellishly expensive. For $199 you can get an HD DVD drive that works with the 360 AND your PC.
