Default Spielberg: "Big Supporter of Blu-ray"

Confirming mounting speculation, we've got exclusive word this morning that Steven Spielberg is indeed "a big supporter" of Blu-ray, and that yesterday's carve out in the Paramount/DreamWorks HD DVD announcement was designed to allow the legendary director to release future titles on Blu-ray.

Wow, good read. Very interesting. The article ends sadly thoug, saying "no more titles for 2007"

OH well, good info.

Huh, yeah, that is really weird that Close Encounters wouldn't come out on HD DVD, since it's Columbia Pictures.

Meh.....

No doubt he makes great movies but I see him releasing his movies has timed exclusives first on Blu Ray then on HD-DVD. He cant ignore the fact that alot of his fans are HD-DVD users.

Depending on the upcoming holiday season will make quite a difference.

So the fact that he is a supporter of Blu-Ray is not really a big deal in IMO.

Thats my two cents.

but but but but WAIT, Spielberg is screwing over HD DVD owners who supported him by buying all of his movies on VHS, DVD and in the theater!!! Let's boycott Spielberg until he supports HD DVD!!!

See how stupid this sounds Blu-ray fans?

There we have it folks. Confirmation on Spielberg's position.. Looks like in this destructive format "war", momentum shifts by the day.

This goes for all of Universal movies, Parimount movies, Fox Movies, Disney movies. So I can see him being exclusive to Blu Ray.

I say that he should release his films for both formats.

By doing so he would show that he cares about the users of both formats.

He could go no wrong by doing it.

aaaaaand another one! Yup, where would Paramount be without Spielberg, even though they were highly successful 60 years before he even shot a movie for them. Nope, nothin' but crap until he appeared on the scene.
