Well, he is right, its stupid that anyone gets denied any movie because of studio support for different formats.

I understand being pissed at Paramount, but going as far as refusing to make Transformers 2? That's a bit much...

Nah this is garbage. No film maker is going to turn down a film he wants to do because paramount decided to not release his movie on a format that only sells a 20,000-100,000 curently vs 1-20 million dvds.

I honestly hope he wont make transformers 2. Then they can get a real director and maybe even some writers to go with all the special effects magic.

Michael Bay can make movies wherever he wants. He made TF1... he can leave it at TF1 if he likes. Besides, it'll be atleast 2-3 years before TF2, so chances are... by the time he's in pre-production or shooting... Paramount will either be neutral again, or one of the formats has won.

He could keep his word and NOT do TF2 - if he's not contractually obligated into it. Just like Thomas Jane and the guy behind the first Punisher - they got out because Lionsgate wanted their ideas out. If Bay prefers neutrality or Blu-Ray... and Paramount is screwing with what he wants (as TF1 was apparently always his baby and not a studio project) - he can bail.

Good for Bay. I'm glad to see someone under Paramount who will be affected by this speaking up about it.

I think his comments provide us with an inkling of the anger that is probably being felt all throughout Hollywood, among all the various professions in the film industry. This will have repercussions for all of them to some degree.

Like Bill Hunt said, "Hollywood's on fire right now - at least the studio home video portion of it. And the retailers... and the manufacturers..."
