Default Joint Statement from Blu-ray Companies re Paramount News

Just posted:

Quote:
Three of the primary players in the Blu-ray camp issued a rare joint statement late Monday in response to Paramount's decision to drop support of Blu-ray.

Sent via email to various news outlets, the statement includes quotes from the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), as well as representatives of Blu-ray backing studios Disney and Fox.

I'm surprised to see the Blu-Ray group so defensive about this whole situation.

They kinda have a point. No one in their right mind would've done this save for 150 million dollars or something along the likes.

That is SO funny, actually... those guys put out so much misleading information and then they get out a quick and defensive press release to try to counteract the Paramount thing. Quite funny.

considering how quickly the Blu's are jumping ship Paramount did the RIGHT thing clearly IMO. HD-DVD supporters ARE more loyal for sure. Maybe the other studios will wise up also.

Judging off a few forums, sure.

But if you think along the lines of people who don't own hi def players, a lot of them don't want to get one at all until a winner is decided.

Its only pathetic to you because you want to bash your competing format so much. $150 million is a good chunk of money for a studio to change sides. I hope all the comments made are remembered when Blu Ray decides to pull the same thing. I have noticed that hard core fans in this forum swing hypocritically back and forth according to what benefits or hurts them.

When corporates start spending big dollars to sway exclusitivity to their side, it will only hurt all of us. It does not help us. We need them to put that money into making the prices cheaper for us.

Look guys, the Axis powers declared a joint statement of defiance against Paramount. I mean really, they are so delusional they don't even see the silliness in this press release.

Aren't we getting a little too extreme by calling companies the Axis Powers?

What's next? Are they going to go to the League of Nations with their grievance?

Default damn

I was rather looking forward to a Blu-Ray of Stardust. Also does this affect the Blu-Ray of "Blades of Glory"? i mean that flick is slated to come out on blu-ray in less than a week isn't it?

I personally think this is all pure beaurocracy; we all know that blu-ray has paid off for exclusivity, and i think paramount is trying to put itself in the footholds for hd-dvd exclusivity for mere political purposes. Its all Bull_Sh#t. But then again, so are Hd-Dvd enthusiasts. Sorry if you don't agree. but its my opinion.

To quote Bobcat Goldthwait and Arsenio Hall at the last taping of the Arsenio Hall show " FU*K Paramount!"

Well, it does expose their weakness, so it is not surprising that they are defensive. If Paramount can go HD DVD exclusive, then so can Warner - of course they will be nervous.

It won't be pathetic if the BDA puts their money where their mouth is an pays off Warner, or Best Buy... I think things are going to get very ugly, and I think the BDA was steamrolled by this news.
