Let's fast forward a year when sales are a little bigger. Would you rather sell 2 million Blurays or 2 million Blurays and 1 million HD DVDs? Thats still a lot of money being left on the table.

Well, if that kind of logic goes the other way and Universal starts backing both, then it would be a moot point, because HD DVD would become useless.

I'm sure Fox hasn't forgotten about Blu-ray but announcing Fantastic Four 2 on standard DVD with no Blu-ray in sight doesn't put them in good standing with Blu-ray fans like me.

Agreed, but I have a feeling that Blu-Ray has some pretty agressive plans for Q4 and I'm sure there is lots of closed doors stuff happening that we have no idea about.

If FF2 flies by on release date with not even a peep from Fox on a Blu-Ray version, then I will be worried, but for now I shall stay optimistic.

Honestly, I thought everything after the 1st Bourne movie sucked ass, killing off his hot girlfriend was the final straw, and the shaky crack camera action during the fight scenes was amazingly retardedly overdone.

However, when {IF} Bourne 3 comes out on HD-DVD, it'll sell amazingly well.

According to Neilson/VideoScan, sales of 300 in HD for the week ending the 12th August 2007 were 71% of sales for Blu-ray and only 29% of sales for HD DVD.

The next best selling Warner title was TMNT which had 68% of sales for Blu-ray and only 32% of sales for HD DVD.

So much for Warner saying neutral is the way to go. The disparity in sales between Blu-ray and HD DVD will only widen over the next six months as Universal has only the Bourne Ultimatum to try and counteract Blu-ray’s exclusive titles of the Spiderman trilogy, Pirates 3, Ratatouille and probably Die Hard 4.0 and the Simpsons Movie.

can't really say I didn't expect this, I believe we will see similar ratios on all neutral titles, the only change I see is that ratio increases for Blu Ray.

both of these titles kick ass in Blu Ray, TMNT looked unreal, especially in the fight scene with leo and raph on the rooftop

Here - save him some reading time:

HD DVD - You can buy any HD DVD disc from anywhere in the world and it will play on any HD DVD player bought anywhere in the world.

BD - BD players bought in North America will play any BD disc sold in North America. Well, except for BD they also consider Japan to be a part of North America, but "Old Europe" is still considered to be another planet, er, I mean Region, and then the rest of the world - South America, Asia, Africa, etc. - are on one super-continent all together. Let's call it Gondwana for simplicity. Now, while countries such as Afghanistan & Argentina and Malaysia & Peru may be close together in an Alphabetical List of the Countries of the World, a closer inspection will reveal they share no similarities in geographic location or sociological similarities. The only possible reason for lumping them all together is 1) They have such disparately low standards of living that no respectable multinational conglomerate gives a rat's a$$ about them, and/or 2) They engage in such widespread despicable levels of IP piracy that a release encoded with their region code can be delayed until Hell has indeed frozen over. But, I digress.

Now, if you buy a BD player in the African portion of Gondwana, it might play a disc from Japanese North America, unless the studio arbitrarily decided to limit it's playability to force you to buy a copy on whatever portion of Gondwana you reside, even though it may cost you double the price of the same movie purchased in Japanese North America. Fox is very fond of doing this. Sony & Disney like to make you guess. The neutral studios releasing on HD DVD as well as BD never seem to make you jump through these hoops for some reason. Long story short.

I love how bd boys use Spiderman 3 and Potc 3 as holy movies.
They both were shit.
Potc 1 and sm 1&2 were good but part 3 was shit.
Just bcuz it makes at the b.o. doesnt mean its good.

While I own almost as many BD now as I do HD DVD, my wallet gets a break that week. I've never made it past SM1 on DVD - I didn't like Spiderman comic books as a kid, and my appreciation has gone downhill since.

But what I save on Sony spending for their overpriced SM Trilogy, Warner gets from me for the Kubrick Collection. Although I haven't decided which format yet until I see more of the specs, considering Warner's 'tradition', I suspect it will be HD DVD.

But, I sincerely doubt of Spiderman will top "300" HD DVD sales of almost 100k in the first 2 weeks.
