Wow.
Just because we choose to interact with you in a discussion in a discussion forum and that we may disagree with you does not mean that your contribution was not appreciated or that it was not welcome.
If you post something that is your opinion its only reasonable to expect that you should be prepared to defend it or explain it in the discussion where other people may not necessarily agree with you. All of the responses here it would seem to me have been given in detail to the merits of the argument and not against you personally.
For pity's sake grow a pair and respectfully respond with logic and common sense to things you disagree with. That's kinda what a discussion forum is all about at its core..

This should be good. I'm actually surprised you returned after your original flounce/stomp off into the sunset post last week.
Actually let me skip ahead first.
Full stop.
I said it was unreasonable to have the opinion that blu-ray must cover DVD's losses.
You have 2 opinions that are contradictory. Blu-ray doesn't need to be as successful as DVD to be deemed successful, but blu-ray needs to have covered DVD's losses since 2006. In order for blu-ray to do this, it had to be MORE successful than DVD was in DVD's first 5 years. Had Blu-ray merely been as successful as DVD was, we'd still have witnessed a decline in the OD marketplace, and using the standard you specifically have for blu-ray, blu-ray would still be a failure.
I also never said your opinion was unwelcome here, and I do not know where that is coming from.
Challenging your opinion isn't quashing it.
I did not personally attack you, but I take umbrage at the accusation that I "essentially called" you an imbecile.
For 12 weeks this year.
I've also mentioned that this is an interesting series of events but I'd rather wait for more of the year to emerge before jumping on the "ITS COVERING DVDs LOSSES FINALLY" bandwagon. Actually I'd rather wait till the entire year is done. -
04-10-2012 02:35 PM #63I find it pretty remarkable as well.I've also mentioned that this is an interesting series of events but I'd rather wait for more of the year to emerge before jumping on the "ITS COVERING DVDs LOSSES FINALLY" bandwagon. Actually I'd rather wait till the entire year is done.
A lot of it is the every other year 1Q release of a Twilight Saga movie we have seen in the past three years effect but it still is interesting that the lessor DVD decline has been fully compensated for in the last three months by Blu-ray's improving YoY gains.
Still a lot of the year to go but once we get past the next month there is not a lot left in the 2Q and 3Q 2011 weeks left to drop things down until we get to mid September and its all up to how the summer blockbusters perfrom for the rest of the year.
But so far, so good.
