Default Disney's Magical "No-Mystery" Blu Ray Tour

July 17, 2007
Disney's Magical "No-Mystery" Tour

Finally, someone in the Blu-ray Disc camp is stepping up with an innovative major marketing/publicity campaign.
Disney is taking Blu-ray to the streets, or at least directly to the public where they are mostly likely to be found hanging out -- in shopping malls.

This is brilliant. Too bad the closest one to me is King of Prussia, about an hour-and-a-half drive. Definitely going to get some good press out of this.

Mark your calendars...

I do disagree that this was ahead of stuff HD DVD has done as HD DVD did do their road show ahead of release which I went to locally to see what was up with the doomed format.

I personally believe that while Blu-ray was released last year, it really is hoping to gain momentum going into this holiday season with a very serious marketing campaign.

Heh, whoops, didn't even notice Tyson's Corner on there. Guess I'll be doing that one instead. Maybe I'll see you there, HD-DED.

Yeah, no doubt parents will be lined up for the sales pitch from Disney. people will check it out, but they will be there for the free popcorn and a glimpse of the characters that their kids love.

The HD optical format will be an after thought.

But, I cute idea, nontheless....

I guess Iphones, any music with the f word in them, and hybrid cars, make that cars in general aren't mainstream then because Walmart doesn't carry them, hence they COULDN'T POSSIBLY be mainstream

"The tour will also include an advance team of publicity experts who will host a special media preview on Friday mornings in each market."

Well, we know Meet the Robinsons will be coming out, but they will also be pushing Cars. Does this mean they will be announcing that title soon? Hope so.

Great, countless mall going teenage girls and boys will now know what blu-ray is. I thought BD already had the tweens covered with PS3??

I think this is a great idea. Get the word out. There are going to be close to 2 million PS3' in North America alone pretty soon, and that is a big audience to draw from. I just saw Ratatoulle at the theater this past weekend, and between, Meet The Robinsons, Cars, Ratatoulle, and POTC3, I will be quite happy this coming holiday season.

Obviously you're terrible at math, since 50 GB > 30 GB and scratch protection > no scratch protection, therefore superior. From a purely technical standpoint comparing 2 discs, BD is by far superior.

That is great. Hopefully many of the local television news will
pickup on it also.
