Well I was just at my CostCo 2 days ago and not only do they still have thier HD DVD section, The actual movie selection has gotten bigger since the last time I was there. They now have around 40+ titles to choose from.

I have to agree with the overall sentiment that these kinds of my store threads really coundnt be more worthless. These threads are a perfect way to clog this forum with even more worthless threads.

My Costco still has a bunch of the A2 for $349, but no movies at all...

I'm surprised to read about certain areas in the US.
My stores in Canada, Future Shop and Best Buy, in a town of 120,000 all have well over 60 titles on HD DVD and well over 80 titles on Blu-ray.

The Costco stores in Fullerton and La Habra, California still have HD-D2's and movies.

I work at Costco in Nampa, Idaho and as of yesterday we had players. All our HD-DVD movies were pulled and sent back about two weeks ago. As for the players. They are not selling well at all. I'd say maybe 3 or 4 this month. It really wouldn't surprise me if they were discontinued (in my area stores). They just don't sell.

Not Costco related but the Best Buys here in North Jersey FINALLY set up HD-DVD displays and the HD/Bluray movie sections were fully stocked with new and old releases. Plenty of players available also. The one by my house had three Bluray displays plus the movie section and only an HD-DVD movie section. Now all is equal.

Oh no....

HD DVD isn't selling in a local Costco store in Idaho.

Toshiba should just discontinue every single player now. Silly Toshiba.

I'm sorry, but your post reeks of nothing but FUD.

huh? So the posts about HD DVD is being carried in Costco's here or there and are selling aren't FUD? But the ones that talk about it's not where they live and not selling is FUD?

Personally I think all of these threads of anecdotal experiences should be disregarded. But your statement above just makes no sense to me. I think they're either ALL FUD or ALL NOT FUD. To call one side's opinion FUD and the other side not FUD is not being fair.

He stated that they are not selling well in his little Costco store in Idaho and he wouldn't be surprised if they were discontinued. Seems like FUD to me.

Sounds like a BD supporter who just got in on the fun of someone talking about HD DVD being pulled.

Hey, I could be wrong, but that's the way it read to me. Even if true, just because HD DVD players are not selling all that well in a store in Idaho doesn't mean they'll be discontinued. Just seemed like a silly over the top statement.

Yeah I agree about the over the top. That's why my thoughts are to disregard all these anecdotal comments. Because it's the same both ways.

We will start to see some stores pulling out of the HD stuff if it's not selling. I think this will be a niche market. Wal-Mart may not jump in as quickly as everyone thinks they will. If it doesn't sell at Costco, that's kinda telling. BUT that is just one store. NOT all Costco stores carry the exact same stuff...so this is a thread that has done nothing more than let us hone our typing skills (sweet!).

I wasn't trying to offend anyone. All I did was post what was happening at the Costco I work at. The thread is titled " Toshiba HD DVD Display & Players Pulled Off The Floor At Costco, Van Nuys, California " So how come I'm getting bashed for posting??? Yeah, ok Idaho is small population wise, but does that change anything? We have a stack of HD-DVD players that are not selling. Just like we have a stack of PS3's not selling. If you know how Costco works, If something is not selling they tend to pull the item and replace it with one that will. Hell, they could pull Ps3's????? But they are selling better then the HD-DVD players at my store. I've seen some other posts saying movies were pulled too.... Are they posting fud?

Just to clarify for me personally I wasn't bashing your post. My point is that if we're going to accept the personal experiences of HD DVD is selling well in "X" area. Then we also need to accept posts like yours which is saying stores are pulling HD DVD in "Y" area.

Personally because of the nature of these personal experiences isn't necessarily indicative of anything, and that there could be a TON of factors that contribute to the store's decisions to do the things they do... I personally don't like to consider any personal experiences in terms of the format wars itself. Rather feel free to post your personal experiences, but I'm not going to use them as evidence for one side or another.

I totally agree. I never said that all Costcos were going to pull HD-DVD players. Things sell better at some stores then others. Is the HD-DVD/Costco thing a pattern???? Hell, who knows. I use our two display HD-DVD players all the time to show picture quality of our HDTVs. HD-DVD and Blu-ray are both great formats, I'd use a Blu-ray player to do the same thing.
