We’ve shared many milestones over the last two years since this site launched in April 2006, and I’m thrilled to announce the next step in our evolution -- the acquisition of High-Def Digest by Internet Brands, Inc.
If that name sounds familiar, it’s because Internet Brands owns and operates vBulletin (the software that powers these forums) as well as several dozen other consumer and enthusiast websites, including DVDTalk, HighDefForum.com and AVRev.com. The plan is to maintain High-Def Digest as a stand-alone site, while leveraging Internet Brands’ resources where they can enhance the site. There are no major changes planned at this point other than moving to bigger, faster servers (this will happen over the next couple of weeks). Internet Brands has a great track record for taking on the administrative aspects of a site like ours, and freeing up us creative types to focus on the content and site features, which is what drew us to this project in the first place. I will continue to play an active role in the growth of the site, as will our entire editorial staff. We’ve set up a dedicated thread in our feedback area for discussion of the acquisition – please feel free to weigh in. I've also included a FAQ from Internet Brands about the acquisition below. We’re excited about the upgrades the acquisition will bring and hope you will be too. Thank you as always. FAQ’s Q: Why did Internet Brands buy High-Def Digest? Internet Brands’ mission is to help consumers plan important purchases and discuss areas of interest to them. High-Def Digest offers outstanding advice and support for people interested in high definition, and the next-gen disc formats. Q: Will High-Def Digest become part of another Internet Brand site? A: No, Internet Brands plans to keep High-Def Digest a separate, thriving site operating as it does today. Q: Will ____ continue at High-Def Digest? A: Yes, the entire staff at High-Def Digest will continue to be actively involved with the site and in the community. Q: What changes can we expect to see on High-Def Digest? A: For the most part, High-Def Digest will remain unchanged. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The main change in the coming weeks will be that Internet Brands migrating the site to more powerful computers. Beyond that, Internet Brands plans to brainstorm with the staff, forum moderators and this community about improvements that would make the site even better. Q: Will my log-in or password change? A: No you will still access High-Def Digest as you always have. Last edited by jed : 04-03-2008 at 01:12 PM. |
