Does Starz! do OAR with aspect ratios greater than 1.77:1 or crop to fit 16:9 like HBO?

Glad to hear. Starz always has a pretty varied selection of titles. I wish HBO would bump up their HD output from their current paltry output of 2 channels.

They crop like HBO. I think that stinks. Showtime is the only premium movie service that keeps the aspect ratio intact (don't know about Cinemax as I don't subscribe).

HDNet Movies also does a nice job of staying true to a director's vision. I caught A Few Good Men last weekend on HDNet Movies from Dish Network and the picture quality shined like a blu-ray. Say what you want about Marc Cuban but his movie channel treats movies right.

Not bad, Starz has pretty much always been my favorite cable movie channel. I just wish one of the cable channels would bring out their own version of MonstersHD.

Man, I can't wait for Spartacus: Blood and Sand on STARZ! in January, specially in HD. The show looks pretty kick ass IMHO. Check out the HD trailer on starz youtube channel.

Cinemax is the same company as HBO and crops the same. There are a few transfers at aspect ratios above 1.77:1 shown in OAR on both services but I think those were down before the decision to crop. I dropped the services that cropped and carried Showtime a couple of years ago to voice my respective disapproval and approval. MGM HD did OAR also when I received that service before dropping everything. I don't think HDNet Movies looks comparable to Blu-ray, the bit starved satellite service is too soft, but it is OAR and very good.
