I have no interest in wearing 3D glasses in order to enjoy 3D content. I already have to wear my "normal" glasses whenever I watch tv and find it quite annoying but necessary. I suspect most people do not want to have to put on glasses everytime to view content, whether it be 3D or anything else.

I'm not about to put "the stupid glasses" on to watch anything on television. 3D is a nice way to sell tickets in the theatres but for in home use I think it it totally impractical.

They have 3D displays that don't require you to wear glasses.. but they are dam expensive and not exactly easy to find.
All it needs at the moment is some solid standards for TV manufacturers so they all run the exact same system, and if it's worthwhile to consumers then 3DTV will happen.. if it's not then it'll die off. I'm not fussed either way. What else is there to say on the subject...

I do not mind the necessity for 3D glasses, as long as the 3D capabilities of a set can be switched on and off as needed. There is no way that I would pay money for a TV that can only output in 3D.

Huh? Why on earth would they only be able to do 3D. I'm not sure it's even possible for a 3DTV to not be able to show a 2D picture. Even some special space hologram 3DTV from the future would be able to show a 2D image.

“You actually can see several different views of the same object, as if you're walking around it in real life. This is good for advertising, but not for cinematic storytelling, where the director had a very specific viewpoint that he intend viewers to see.”
    Bullsh*t.

That is so NOT true. We're talking 3D, not holograms. With two camera 3D, there is still only ONE perspective being seen. Now, if they actually ever get around to inventing holographic projectors .... (not too likely in my lifetime, as even in Star Wars with all those fancy ultra-high tech faster than light star ships, the picture quality of their holograms was crap. If they haven't worked out the bugs by the time light speed and planet destroying lasers have been invented, I'm not holding my breath.)

Same here. If 3D takes anything away from the highdef experience I am going to be pissed.

Well saying 'see 3D just the same as people saw the 3D in the 50's' is not good marketing.

Holographic projectors were invented decades ago, the one I saw was cude but it was holographic.
