Default Stargate: Universe Starts Oct. 2nd on Syfy

After a series of short 30-60 sec teasers, MGM and Syfy have finally released a full trailer for Stargate:Universe for Comic Con. Although still revealing only a little about the shows premise and overall dark tone, we do get a glimpse of something we have only seen interior shots off - the Ancient ship Destiny. If anything, I really can't wait to see this show in HD. At it's end, Atlantis had some really beautiful SFX and I can only imagine the types of environments and deep space shots this show is going to have.

Nice. I am stoked. I wish that the trailer was a little better quality but hopefully a better one will surface.

at first I thought it was a snarky add or something, but looks good.... Sort of like Star Gate goign battlestar galactica in a way. I hope they do a good job, I'm definetly in the mood to have a good sci-fi series running agian... Eureka is good but doesn't quite fill my need for space based sci-fi.

I was thinking the same thing. That's some pretty crappy looking HD Gateworld. I'm sure better copies will materialize @ places like syfy.com and YouTube.

So is this an alternate timeline? Seems like they had just discovered the Earth stargate. Also, I take it that ship has some sort of faster than light drive, but a billion light years away..... call me a little skeptical.

I'm boycotting SciFi (I refuse to call it otherwise) now - they've ruined my channel, so good luck with this show. Myself, I've lost all faith in their management.

Take a peek, you know you want to. Give in to your anger, it is the only way....

I'm pretty sure it's not. I'm gonna delve into some spoiler territory here so I'll mask it.

Spoiler:
It takes place after Atlantis, but the "discovery" may come from having a bunch of civilians on the show that have never seen a Stargate before. The Ancient ship they gate onto is in a different universe then ours (hence the name of the show). It is an automated ship that the ancients used to build out the initial Stargate network. It would travel from planet to planet placing gates on worlds for the ancients to gate into to explore the planet. So it's been running on autopilot for thousands of years which is why it's so far away from Earth. It'll all make sense in the end, they aren't re-writing canon.

So in this series the Stargate team must rely on a James Bond villian?

Stargate: SG-1 ~ Star Trek TNG (Common Theme: To explore new worlds, etc etc.)
Stargate Atlantis ~ Star Trek DS9 (Common Theme: Stuck on a Space Station)
Stargate Universe ~ Star Trek Voyager (Common Theme: Stuck on Ship far away from home)

I'm still gonna watch it though, even though I'm still pissed at Syfy for Cancelling SG-1 and Atlantis.
