I'm still gonna watch it though, even though I'm still pissed at Syfy for Cancelling SG-1 and Atlantis.
Can you blame MGM? They make so much more money off a straight to DVD movie than can be made from the TV show after 5 year contracts are up..

Although I never got into any of the Stargate series... I thought this one was pretty interesting. What happened in the second half-hour though? I fell asleep, strictly because I was very tired from one long-ass week!

Looks like he's been eating to much cake. I enjoyed the premiere but will wait to see where it goes. Looks like their is going to be a lot of internal drama on this show. I know they are trying to make this a darker version of the SG world, I just hope they don't try to make it too much like BSG.

Never mind... watched it on Hulu. Thank God for Hulu! Looking forward to this Friday's episode.

I've been enjoying the show so far and I can tell that I'm hooked. The last episode seemed a little long without much happening though.

Hopefully every place they visit won't look like the woods outside Vancouver or the constantly redressed mid-evil 2-story village.

I've been watching the last series, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. It doesn't feel like Stargate. It feels like an edgier, angsty-er version of Battlestar Galactica. It totally lacks any of the humor and comradery that the old show had. Everyones yelling at each other every other scene, the backstabbing and complete lack of genuine friendships makes the whole show not a relaxing and enjoyable experience. I get it - it's different and they probably wanted to go in a new direction because BSG did so well. However, as a long fan of all the other series, this one is a case of "one of these things is not like the other," and because of that, it's grating on me. I still love the universe it takes place in, but the direction they've taken the situations and acting (absolutely humorless, competeley serious) isn't making me a fan.

I have been pretty disapointed with the show so far. I am not willing to give up on it yet but it needs to pick it up soon. The whole gangster troop bit is really lame. A jackass like that would have never been picked as an off world person. The super duper communicator thing seems like a pasted on after thought. The whole damp, dark, wet ship thing was ok for the pilot but come on, can we turn on some frackin lights now please ?

I feel bad for the fat kid. He's getting lead on by the hot chick, and she's apparently going to hook up with the military guy next episode. I mean come on, don't show the guy your bits in a shower and then turn around and jump all over some other guy! That's just wrong!

Yeah but there is the military chick too though. She is going to take the reins and put him through some PT.

She's a screamer that's for sure.

Mixed feelings about the series so far. I didn't mind the idea of a darker stargate but it really does seem like they are trying to make it was to much like BSG. Way to much character conflict from a bunch of people who supposedly don't know each other very well. Already using the term FTL drive and i wouldn't be suprised to hear someone say go frack yourself very soon. Some more action wouldn't hurt either.

I think we are finally out of the opening arc since it seems like the imminent threat of death has passed with this last episode. It seems to me that the farther we get into it, the more it seems less like BSG. Now if that shuttle that took off from the Destiny comes back with robots that want to chase them down, then we might be heading back towards that.

And I totally buy them calling using FTL as a generic term for high-speed interstellar travel. If they had called it the same thing that the ships in SG1 and SGA use, then I would have called foul since the Destiny would have to be using something else because of the vast distances it can go. And besides, there's a lot of sci-fi that uses that term.

One thing I'm not too keen on is how forced sexuality seems to be in this series. The scenes just don't seem to fit right. I won't go as far as some of the people over at the GateWorld forums in saying that the female cast are there for no other reason then to be sex objects, but I do think they should make it less in your face.

I don't think it's stopped being like BSG yet. I mean, just the fact that we're seeing such blatant similarities to BSG screams something very wrong to me. It's not SG1 anymore, it's SGBSG.

The only sexuality I saw the entire show was in the college co-ed hanging all over the male leads she comes across, and the quick bang the pilot guy has with the other female military chick at the beginning of the show. The college girl hangs all over the fat guy, is friendly with him and shows him her bits when she can use it to her advantage and needs her emotional baggage stowed, but then there is the military guy she rarely ever talks to, has one touchy feely moment with, and the next thing you know she's banging him as a farewell present. Her character is utterly and completely ridiculous and unnecessary for anything. Even she goes so far as to say she's good for nothing (obviously not all true, she is good for something, a quicky).
