Default GLEE thread (musical series on FOX)

Did anyone catch the "preview event" of this show last night after American Idol? I thought it actually had humorous parts, however it's a shame they showed so many damn previews which more or less gave away everything that happened in the pilot and every song sung. However the characters are charming, and most have quite good voices. It's like the main girl should win American Idol lol

I left it on behind me while I played "The Sims 3" on computer... listening did have it's humorous moments... but it also had a LOT of singing... I mean a LOT of singing.. so much so that it almost felt like needles in my spine if I have to hear someone butcher another song acapello. The "Quarterback's Voice" wasn't ALL THAT either... I mean I know he's just an actor but you could always lipsync a professional instead. And to be honest, just switch out the Quarterback for the Lacross Star and you have an identical plot from American Pie.

The only positive this show has going for it (other then following the last episode of American Idol) is having zero competition with any other show.. It'll probably lose-out to reruns of other shows anyway. Given the subject matter, they probably did about as good as they could, but I dont have high hopes of it sticking around. (Being from the producers of Nip Tuck, it's honestly not a pimple on the ass of Nip Tuck.)

Nip Tuck's been a steaming pile of garbage for years now. After season 3 it was just redundant ridiculous trash lol. However this show, Glee, is actually not continuing until the fall, so it's a weird 1 episode preview and the 5 month break lol

This is true.. but it still hasn't prevented me from seeing every episode. This past season I was appalled at Christian marrying Lizzy because she could take care of him in the last few months of his life.. only to find out the diagnosis of Cancer was a mistake in the last episode.. and now being Married to Lizzy. The downslide began for me with "Hearts and Scalples" and the whole 'making a tv show within a tv show' crap... I look back on the days with the Tattoo Gangster and think.. MAN, now THAT was a great plot!!.

Still.. Christian is like one of the best characters on television, when you have to put yourself in the shoes of someone, to put yourself into someone crass and womanizing like Christian and "get away with it" is the guilty pleasure of the show. And unlike "House", you dont mind having Christian's Looks.

I enjoyed it, i though it was funny and i was kind of angry to find out there was a 5 month break before it really starts. I graduated high school a year ago and i had a lot of friends in our "Choraliers" so im pretty familiar with show choirs and the unnecessary amount of drama that happens, and i know how funny it is from an outside perspective. So there's a lot of potential with that, but the show choir from my school was also much larger and i was shocked to find out that apparently show choir is looked down upon because we had a very successful show choir and the people in it were some of the most popular people in the school.

Yeah, watching the Glee pilot I kept thinking I'd seen it before - but then it didn't help that just about every scene had been shown in the previews. But then it clicked - American Pie; the Quarterback even looks like Chris Kline (the Lacross player). I thought Glee was pretty weak, the plot seems ripped from American Pie and High School Musical, with some other teen movies thrown in.

Some of the characters remind me of people I was in my school musical and choir with, just not as attractive.

Well the 2nd episode I actually found funnier than the 1st, mainly due to Jane Lynch (the cheerleader coach). Very amusing so far, and I like the variety in the music they sing etc. Very high quality and witty show all around

I thought that girl did a good job on the song 'Take A Bow', I like it much more than Rihanna's version.

well last nights was pretty good. Kinda wish there were more numbers with the kids instead of the "acafellas" doing early 90's hip hop (this is how we do it, barf-o-rama lol). But yea I liked the black girls song about busting windows out of cars lol.

My wife made me (well kinda) watch this show with her and I am somewhat unimpressed. I just don't see this show having legs and lasting more than a season or two at best.

it's a unique taste definately, but it's doing well in the ratings so far, and certainly seems to have consistent marketing and buzz and positive critical acclaim behind it, so I'm hoping it sticks around

I like it!

Although I prefer when they go for more comedy than drama.
