Default Thinking of replacing standalone player with 360

Here's what I'm thinking - I really want to have the Netflix Instant Viewing on my TV, I'm not going to be buying any LG or Samsung BD players to get it, since I'm very happy with my .

So, that leaves XBox 360 (at least for my budget, I know there are HDTVs that have that feature, but that's not gonna happen for a few more years)

I'm probably going to do the Red2Blue for all my WB HD-DVDs, which will leave me with about a dozen discs that I'll still watch from time to time.

Since I'll probably have to sell my standalone player to help afford the XBox, I want to know - will the 360 add on be a decent replacement for my standalone? Will I regret swapping it out, or will I not miss a beat?

I'd love to read any thoughts on this plan.

Thanks!

A standalone has better audio. The add-on does not offer lossless sound. Unless you dont have a receiver that can play the lossless formats, I say stick with your standalone. I did feel though that the add-on was the fastest/most responsive HD DVD player compared to my standalone players I have now.

Thanks - that's good info to keep in mind. Lossless sound is something I wouldn't want to, well, lose.

The xbox-360 addon is pretty good though, but keep in mine it only does 1080i on component, but 1080p on VGA/HDMI cables.

But I haven't really noticed a huge quality in picture between the xbox 360 and a standalone.

Thanks, Slickz. I would be connecting through HDMI, so I'm good there. How does the HDMI work with the 360? Is the console connected through HDMI, and the addon is USB?
