Default Any way to upgrade your Xbox?

I bought my 360 back when they first came out and paid like $400 for the Pro system, which at the time was the best one and only came with a 20gb HDD and Component cables for HD. Now the new Pro system comes with HDMI output and a 60gb HDD and is only $299.99, so I was wondering if there is any way to upgrade from my older version to the newer version. I have had to send in my console 3 times now and they always send back an older version. It doesn't seem fair that someone who had confidence in Microsoft from the beginning and paid more for the older system doesn't get the benefits of the better cheaper system. I dont care about the extra hard drive space, I mainly just want the HDMI output.

yea I don't think you can get a free upgrade, the only cheapest option for you to upgrade to HDMI is to get the arcade version and then sell your old console.

You paid the geek tax. That is always what happens when you are the first kid on the block to get the new toy.

I would upgrade in stages. Get an arcade now and pop on your 20GB hard drive and then later on when you have more scratch, upgrade the hard drive.

Then you can give your old one with the memory card from the arcade to a kid that is less fortunate or something like that. Or, keep it as a backup.

Selling your system and getting a newer one is probably your only option.

I know how you feel. I bought my xbox the day it was released in the US. Since that day I've had MS work on it twice. I would like to upgrade to HDMI, but to me its not worth spending an additional $200 for it. For the moment component output is fine with me.

Go to a Walmart with only one HDD. Buy it. Then take it home, open it up, and swap the guts of 20gb with the 120gb, then take it back. Sure, your HDD will still say 20gb, but you'll know better.
