Default Need recomendations on xbox 360 games

I've been away from gaming for almost a year now, due to military duty. I hope to be returning home soon and am looking for advice on titles released in the past 12 months, or so.

My current titles include, Kameo, Halo I and II, COD 2, Gears of War, NFS Most Wanted, Quake IV, Prey, Lost Planet, LOTR, and Gun.

Thanks in advance for your input.

The very first titles you should buy are Bioshock ( Just about everyone should agree on this one) and Rainbow Six Vegas. My two favorites on the system. After that there are so many good games that you'll never have time to play them all.
Honorable Mentions:
GTA 4, COD 4, Condemned 1+2 (great if you're into being scared), Dark Sector, Orange Box, Crackdown, Halo 3, Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, Forza, F.E.A.R., Ghost Recon..... Like I said way to many games.

i agree completely with what didactandnarpet said, but id add a few more, oblivion was a lot of fun, Devil May Cry 4, assasins creed, orange box, Guitar Hero 2 or rock band, and a burnout title, paradise is supposed to be good, but revenge is probably the best in the series so far

Happy Playing

personally my 2 favorite 360 games are Dead Rising and Oblivion.

I'm half way through Assassin's Creed right now and its pretty good but not as good as Oblivion for me.

I have BioShock but havn't played it yet.

I also really liked Overlord, its like an evil version of Pikmin. Interesting gameplay but not for everyone.

I'm extremely jealous of you. I wish I could go back in time and experience Bioshock for the first time again. You in for a treat.

Bioshock and Mass Effect are easily the best two games last year.

CoD4 was a great shooter, along with Halo 3 of course.

If you are into RPG's I hear that Lost Odyssey is spectacular.

Yeah, if you're a JRPG fan, then Lost Odyssey is a must.

And, I have to ask...did you just stop buying games in early 2007 or something?

Thanks for all the input. I picked up Halo-3, and The Orange Box. I ran out of money for now, but I am looking into picking up Bioshock next.

What titles do we have to look forward to in the next few months?

This should take plenty of time:

GTAIV
Bioshock
Call of Duty 4 (assuming you like games about your job)
Mass Effect (If you are into Bioware RPGs like KOTOR)
Orange Box (Play Portal First)
Halo 3
