The Xbox 360 Elite thread. It is official!

Meh, if it had internal HD DVD I'd be all over this. I'm moving out in a month, and the 360 and HD DVD add on are my roommates, so I'm going to have to buy a new HD DVD player. Looks like I'll be going with the HDA2 instead. I want to get into Blu-Ray this summer so I guess I'll just grab a PS3 so I have my gaming system as well.

I dunno, I guess we'll see how it works out.

Well hopefully this will mean proper support for HD audio codecs over HDMI.

i don't like it in black. really liked the way it looked in white. i may be in the minority in color choice, but the white just looks cleaner than the black. plus the 360 looks cool next to my wii.

It's limited in black so eventually the white Elite will be out in the summer like the article states. Now assuming GI which doesn't print April fools jokes sticks to it's mantra...this is a reality. Of course this also comming out sooner then I expected changes my funds around. I can sell my current X360 to my friend for 250, so that covers some of the cost. Plus a new reciever with HDMI and I'm set.

I think you are definitely. I bought a replacement case for my original 360 because I wanted it in black. Too bad I wasted 50 bucks coz that could have went toward the money I am going to spend on my new 360 Elite.

Hmmm $820 just to start out.. Seems like a rip to me. But this could be good for the PS3, so I say do it!!

But really, they would need to drop the console by $220 just to compete on price. I doubt we will see it selling for $260 anytime soon. (even tho it costs about that to build it)

But its a crappy deal. If you dont want HD DVD playback, maybe $500 isnt too much to swallow. But the ps3 is a much better deal if you want an optical HD format playback.

Especially given the current state of HD DVD and their craptastic title selection. Im all for MS doing this one.

Geez. Fanboy logic never makes sense. The way MS has chosen to do it is much more flexible than the PS3. Say a person already has an HD DVD player. Then they dont have to buy the add on. Say a person has his old Xbox wireless network adapter. He doesnt have to buy the new one. On the other hand, if someone already has a BD player and wants a PS3, they're forced to pay for a $200 feature they don't need. However for someone who doesn't have a BD player (like me), the PS3 is a great choice. It's all about options man. Oh, and when you consider what HDMI cables are going for these days, and the fact that it'll be included w/ the black 360, that puts it darn near the current price of the premium model.

On top of that... this isn't the smackdown forums... Take your bias over there.

Engadget has just received some spy photos from a Chinese source of some 360 Elites that had just come off the produdtion line. So yup, they're real alright.

I think the black is ugly unless they make it shiny like the PS3. The white looks SO much better!

That's coz you haven't seen the photos from the GameInformer article. Man they look super sexy. I'm lovin' the black.

the black is great, but sadly I don't think I'm gonna be able to justify buying another one for a change in color, especially since I really don't care about the HDMI aspect right now.
