Default HD DVD Add On

In the wake of recent format war announcements it appears HD DVD has lost.

That being said, what are the members of this forum going to do with their 360 HD DVD attachments?

I know, I know...it will still play my existing HD DVD's....but who wants that extra piece of equipment lying around when there are no new movies even being released for it?

With a standalone at least you get a pretty good upconverting DVD player - but for those of us with a non-HDMI 360, we don't even get that.

Just want to hear some thoughts on what you will do with it. I am going to continue to use it for HD DVD's until the price of the disc on Blu has dropped to a point where I feel its worth it to replace. At that point I will box the attachment up and shove it into the closet along with my other "wise purchases"

Sorry didn't see the news stories that said all studios are supporting Blu as of 2/19 and are destroying their current inventory.

But to answer your question I'll keep it and the Panisonic until LG or Samsung has the most up to date player.

It still plays my HD DVD movies - it hasn't exploded yet, nor has the media imploded. I'm keeping mine.

To the OP I may have spoke out of turn. As I said I hadn't see anything posted until after I got back online later and saw the story on the HD page . If I'm not able to get a Purple player from LG I'll have some kind of Purple drive for my computer and run that to my tv.

I dont have 10 posts yet so I can't put the link in.

I've no intention to sell mine. It's absolutely great to have 3 drives plugged into the PC. It's also great that I can get 1080i/72/96 this way.

I haven't even watched that much HD-DVD and still have 8 sealed titles I'm looking forward to watch.

Yes it does upconvert to 1080p IF your TV accepts 1080p via VGA cable. My Sony Bravia will not upconvert it to full HD.

In a way you are right, but of course you then have to buy a VGA cable - is it worth another $40 purchase to make use of a player being listed for $129?

Just a thought.
