Hey it happened to me with 5 360 retail games so what I did was traded them in @ gamestop and they took off about $8 for all the scratches. Didn't know they started doing that but I took a loss. It's not whether the 360 is standing up or lying down. It's the dvd drive period. Luckily for me, I had warranty @ gamestop and was able to return my elite for full refund and I bought a new arcade and 120gb hd separate and things are better now.

When I first got my Xbox my girl tripped over the ethernet cord and the xbox wobbled and made circular scratches on my disc.

EBgames let me trade the game in for a brand new version and you can bet I bought the wireless adapter the next day. Havn't had that problem since.

Not sure if installing on the hard drive would fix this problem, (this was before that feature was available) I install all of my games though to keep the load off the disc drive.

man oh man this was happening to me alot, once it started it seemd to be churning out scratched DVD's continuosly. 'Apparantly' I moved the console while playing, nonsense, its fitted in a cabinet for one thing! When Prototype got scratched that finsished me off.......5 minutes in and game dead grrrrr

Was in process of getting console exchanged, without much luck. But in the mean time, got all my trashed games (9!!!) fixed up like new! I was a bit anxious whetehr it would work, but this company (CD Fixer) are amazing, they seriously came back like new games. Now doesn't concern me too much, repairs of the DVDs are cheap anyway and cheape than a replacement console that will almost certainly do same thing form what I read and hear, so I'll put up with the damn thing!

Sounds like a made up story. The cost of broken DVD's would add up with a quickness.

Nice shilling for CD Fixer, too.

Doing a little research is far superior then making a claim and then not backing it up with evidence.

"Due to the fact that we did not participate in the experiment done by Kassa and have little insight into the methodology that was used, we cannot comment specifically on the outcome. While we are aware that discs can potentially be scratched through normal wear and tear, we have not received any widespread reports of the issue highlighted here. That said, it is important to us that all of our customers have the best gaming experiences possible, and these claims are obviously very concerning to us. We encourage any Xbox customer who believes that their discs have been scratched in the same manner as identified by Kassa, to contact us. We will examine the console and make appropriate repairs if necessary in order to restore the console to full working order, as well as provide customers with information on how to obtain replacement discs should they need them."

I wanted a 360 so bad so I bought one from Best Buy. From the beginning it scratched the new discs. I returned the 360 for a new one and the same thing happened. After the 3rd time returning it I gave up. BB gave me all of my money back, even for the games. I bought a PS3 and have no problems. But I still want to play HALO and Left for Dead.

When did you buy it? From what I have read, since MS switched to higher-quality Lite-on drives there haven't been any problems. I've had three Xbox 360's, one Premium/Pro launch unit, one Elite built March 2007, and one Arcade built May 2009, and none of them have scratched discs. It would suck it they did, though.
