Default 'Bruce Almighty' - High-Def Digest review

Just posted Peter's review of 'Bruce Almighty.' While he enjoyed the
film, unfortunately he found this HD DVD release to be a bit reheated,
with the video, audio and supplements all showing their age (even
though the film is only four years old). He concludes that it's still
worth a rent, but diehard Carrey-philes will likely be disappointed to learn
that this isn't one of Universal's best catalog efforts.

Though he's married to the beautiful Grace Connelly (Jennifer Aniston), his career as a local TV newscaster is going nowhere.
They weren't married. Just a technicality, but if I didn't catch it someone else would have.

I agree with the review however.

Just wanted to say that there are plenty of typos in the review. Not very professional looking.

I don't think Bruce Almighty's transfer is the crime against humanity everybody claims it is. There have been worse. Bruce did not seem that bad in my opinion.

Movie was o.k. Had some funny parts but overall, not Carrey's best. I think I will pass on this one. Jim Carrey's comedy is growing old on me.

Watch it this aint a smackdown thread I gonna run over to the "Bad Intentions" thread now lol

I saw this HD DVD yesterday via rental (thank god )

This was just a bad source used and really should have been reviewed before using it.

I was disapointed in the PQ for it but know that the SD dvd suffered from a less than stellar picture as well. Universal really made a bad judgement with this release but I guess thay didn't have enough time (Maybe) to do a whole new remastering to release it in time for "Evan Almighty"s release.
Problems with this IMO were:
1. Washed out looking colors
2. Blooming contrast in a few scenes
3. Dim whites and black level.

I had this on Pre-order and cancelled once I heard the reviews coming out and now happy i did.

Still happy with my other UNI titles that got less than favorable reviews though
Since I don't see them at all as bad as this one.

Ugh, I can't believe this. I rented it from netflix, but around the scene where he first meets God in the warehouse building, it starts to lock up. The reason was a series of micro-scratches that, together, almost look like an air bubble between the disc pressing, or a white smudge. I reported it damaged, sent it back.

I recieved my newer copy today, and it has the EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I wonder if this is netflix's fault, or if this was a production error, or what. I just want to watch this freaking film the whole way through!
