Default 'Music and Lyrics' - High-Def Digest

Peter's review of the Drew Barrymore/Hugh Grant romantic comedy 'Music and Lyrics' is up. He says Warner has delivered perhaps the best HD DVD that could be expected for such a "pastry-puff" of a movie -- the transfer is very attractive, and the soundtrack is fine. Save this one for date night.

Default This Movie is awful

I tried to forget my problems for 90 minutes on an airplane recently, where you are typically a captive audience and even mediocre movies can be entertaining. I had to stop and go back to my Ipod.

The dialogue was terrible, the acting very bad and there is 0- chemistry between the stars, which is certain death for a romantic comedy.

It is no wonder this movie made so little $$$$. Best part of the movie was the opening credits which was a tribute to cheesy 80's music videos. THe rest was an embarrassment especially for Hugh Grant who could not wait for this 10 minute concept to be over.

Drew Barrymore was simply crap. Unlikable,Unbelieveable, Unlovable I could go on....

These movies work best when they have an organic quality which is tough to do. Some people are so desperate they buy into anything.

Like I said, I would never have rented this as the concept has stinker written all over it. I will say that it was better than any of those Keanu Reeves sandra bullock romantic movies "Sweet November or October or the Cupid mailbox thing. I always seem to get stuck with these on an airplane.

You are better off Checking out "The Family Stone" which was overlooked.

Anyway don't even bother renting this, it just makes you want to see "4 weddings" or "notting hill" or even "never been kissed".

My wife pre-ordered this. I'm ok with that, because when she is happy I am getting some.

That is simple math.

/she also pre-ordered notting hill and a few others, I'd better eat more eggs.

I own an HD-A20 and 8 HD titles. Planet Earth is the best, IMHO, and it would be the best even if I had BD.

I have two kids that enjoy watching the Flintstones on whatever format I have. My wife wonders why the hell I care about hidef in the first place.

I want: LoTR, Jurassic Park, Star Wars III and IV, Saving Private Ryan. The rest, I'll rent...might buy Jaws.

My Mom wants this and she said she would wait for reviews.... We still can't decide whether or not to get it.

As for Drew Barrymore, I think she's great in some stuff and awful in others. Personally I thought she was brilliant in 50 First Dates and if you ever see My Date With Drew I guarantee you will like her better....

My wife and I are watching this now, so I'm getting a kick out of these replies.

Transfer is nice, movie is too cute, hugh looks a bit old in HD, but the young chick singer is hot.

And ohhhh yes....wife is happy!

That was a great movie. I didn't know what it was about when I rented it. The wifes tears were going hard at the end. Her mom had just passed away. Had I known what happened at the end of that movie I would have waited to watch it.

I rented the SDVD of Music & Lyrics and the wife liked it, of course. Not one of Grants best at all.

I rented About A Boy last week, and Grant was decent in that one.

This is my opinion. This is a blind buy I did last weekend. I regret buying it and smoking aces. My only two blind buys I regret. Drew was wonderful in TWsinger and in HD as 50 first dates, but never once liked any of Hugh Grants movies.(I should have known)
