Thumbs up 'Scary Movie 4' -- High-Def Digest review

Genius sent along their first four HD DVD titles to us today, checked out 'Scary Movie 4' first:

http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/scarymovie4.html

A good start. A surprise, though, that they are using AVC MPEG-4 and not VC-1. Solid transfer, if a little harsh. It is the unrated cut, though, and there's lots of extras. Worth a rent...

I am not a fan of this series at all, I for one find it hard to comprehend how they got to number 4! Let's just hope that is it now!

I'm just happy to see another studio actually put out HD DVDs. Do you hear me Magnolia and BCI?

Not a chance. Have you seen how much money each film in the franchise has made? (check boxofficmojo.com for the specifics). I believe 5 is already underway and with the big profits the franchise makes there will undoubtedly be a 6 too.

I actually like # 4 better than the others, specially # 2. This are fun movies except for the toilet humor parts and you cant expect every movie to be Citizen Kane or something... :-)

Why do you take away points for HD video sourced movies? How can something that has crystal clear video get only a 3 out of 5? To me this is one of the best looking live-action titles on either format.

Just watched Scary Movie 4 last night and was not impressed with the Picture. Picture seemed to be just as good as some upconverted DVD's.

Think that's bad? Try Scary Movie (the first one) on Blu-ray. Every HDM film you watch from that point on will look immaculate.

My secondary TV is in my livingroom and is a 42" Panasonic Viera 1080p plasma screen. I've got a Samsung BD-UP5000 connected to that for all my HD needs. No surround sound there, though.
