Thus far, you're the only person to comment on You, Me and Dupree. IMHO, I don't there was anything exciting about the HD transfer; but you're probably right, it might have been too low. So I moved it to mid Tier 3 unless we get more input from other members.

Total Recall should be moved to Tier 1 and La Haine should be added to high Tier 2.

One suggestion... and I may be the only person on the planet that thinks this way... so take it for what it is...

I think you are going to constantly have people argue about 'this pic was better than that'... so I would suggest just listing the films in alphabetical order by tier. I understand that it's not going to be 'as exact'... but maybe you could add a few more levels to make it more precise. Instead of 4 or 5 tiers, you have 10 (like a 1-10 system)... and just list them alphabetically.

The reason that I say this, is because after following the AVS PQ thread for quite some time (silently), I stopped refering to it, because titles are too hard to find. If you look at the thread at AVS, there are currently 63 'tier 1 titles'... and in order to find the title you are looking for, you have to scan EVERY single title.

The reason this is 'an issue' is becuase when I am considering an HD DVD purchase, I want to see which tier it falls in... but I don't want to spend 10-20 minutes trying to find it. I ALWAYS check the HDD reivew, and then try to get a few other opinions, but scrolling through 68 tier 2 movies (after trying to find it in the 63 tier 1 section is tedious at best. Having a more organized list would make referncing the titles MUCH easier IMO.

Maybe a 10 tier system (with the number equaling a percentage... i.e. tier 10= 100% (A), tier 9 = 90% (B)...) would be easier to handle with an alphabetical system. As it is, both are GREAT reference lists, but they can be a little time consuming when looking for a quick reference (for example... as a n00b, I love the movie Swordfish... where does it rank before I buy the HD DVD version?... it's in the middle of tier 1 at AVS. But what if I was looking for Superman Returns? I would have to scan through ~120 titles to find the movie). With an alphabetical list, I can say "Okay, it's not in 'S' for the best... but there it is in 'S' for #2..."

Just a thought.

Thank you JU1CY for the input.

I like your idea about listing each title alphabetically, making our list unique; but I also think more tiers would complicate things. But as more titles are released on HD, we can make the list longer with more tiers.

Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it. I just wish we had others joining the discussion rather than spending all their time in the smackdown.

thx,
enoize

Default Ray,Seabiscuit

Ray needs to be put in tier 1 and should at least be higher than Eternal Sunshine. Seabiscuit needs to be put very near the top of tier 1.

The list has now been alphabetized so as to search through each tier with more ease.

I've also added a but load of imports:

The Brothers Grimm
Equilibrium
Finding Neverland
First Blood
The Fog
The Gift
Oliver Twist
Running Scared
Reign of Fire

Along with these, I've also added Battle of the Bulge, which was a jaw-dropping surprise! For a movie over forty-years old, it offers a magnificent picture, looking as if it were just filmed last year and rivaling others of the same tier.

If there are any more titles I've missed, please mention them.

I would put the Spanish release of Underworld Evolution as a Tier 1.
First Blood (Austrailian but identical to every other SC release) in Tier 2.

The list is now complete with every release thus far, except for Discovery (I'll get to those soon), and majority of imports. If something should be moved, please say so.

Now, I'll try to keep up with each title release in the coming weeks and months, but I'll still need everyone's help to update the list as the weeks roll on.

i think u-571 should be below tier 1 , it has definite artifacts in some scenes and a few poorly transfered scenes as well

How bout renaming "Excellent" REFERENCE because these ARE the reference titles thus far. "Very Good" becomes EXCELLENT because these titles are outstanding. Tier 2 becomes "GOOD--VERY GOOD" Tier 3 remains average and so forth. Any thoughts? I just feel like having 3 levels of good, very, and average are too many to really separate.

'Matrix' Collection Tier 0, at the very top, best discs I have seen yet.

Also 'Batman Begins' should be moved to Tier 0.

and 'Perfume (German release)' to the very top of Tier 1.
