Sony Movies on HD DVD ever?
I am wondering if Sony will ever release a movie on HD DVD if it becomes the prefered format ("winner")?
Because I am interested in a few sony movies such as Click and Da Vinci Code. but i am not interested in buying a PS3...
Thanks! -

When HD DVD has millions of players in consumers homes Sony will have to support it eventually. They supported VHS when it became clear that Betamax wasn't going to make it. I myself may just utilize the upscaling features of the player to support Fox and Sony until they pull their heads from their nether regions and support HD DVD.
VHS must DIE!! -

The first series of BD were released in MPEG-2 with PCM Uncompressed audio tracks because Sony didn't want to pay for the VC-1 / DTS / DD licenses for the BD standard. A lot of movies aren't ever available in DTS, but there are some on HD DVD. Why no DTSHD or DDHD, maybe no reason in the encoders minds to do it yet.

The add-on can upconvert, but only through the VGA connection (this is due to legal, not technical reasons).
Canal+ is releasing a number of titles in Europe that include DTS-HD on HD-DVD:

Personally, once the audio is lossless, I could care less if it was DTS-HD or TrueHD. The decoded digital audio streams are identical. The only thing that matters at that point is which one encodes them more efficiently. -

I imagine we will start to see more disks supprting DTS-HD once there is hardware that has the appropriate codecs to decode it.
As far as I know, there is no player that can encode DTS-HD Master Audio (native) right now, the PS3 only supports the core stream. -

HD-DVD does support it, it's just that it is not mandatory on their players.
