Default The Hitcher (2007) - High-Def Digest

Kenneth's review of the 2007 remake of 'The Hitcher' is up. He wasn't a fan of the film itself, but says this is otherwise quite a respectable HD DVD release, boasting great picture and audio quality, a decent supplemental package, and even a "U-Control" video commentary track.

My copy from Netflix is arriving tomorrow. I don't expect to want to own it, but hopefully it is halfway decent.

This is one of teh worst remakes I've ever seen, it clearly shows why I try to avoit remakes! This movie is a waste of time and money!

well i've never seen the oringinal so hopefully i'll like this enough or think of it as a decent movie. i did want to see it in theatres so i hope that when this eventually comes in from amazon that i'll like it enough to be happy with the purchase. this site gave smokin aces the 2/5 film value stars and i ended up liking smokin aces (even though i've never seen pulp fiction) so since this movie got two stars, i should like it as much as smokin aces.

The chase/crash scene should look amazing in HD. The movie is pretty typical with not much depth or reason. I like the dumb action ones every once and a while, I did enjoy it and may grab it on HD when it's a little cheaper.

You have to see the original! It's a classic. I have the SD, but would love an upgrade.

I never saw the original but this one seemed ok to me. PQ was very excellent which made it worth the rental. Ending took to long in my opinion.

Wow, I've never seen the original but this was much better than I expected it to be. It was a lot like that movie Rest Stop from last year.

I thought the original was garbage too.. although maybe i saw just another remake? What year was the original made? The version i watched was just far too annoying. Way too many plot holes i just couldn't swallow early on and had to turn it off.

The original was released in 1986 with Rutger Hauer as The Hitcher.

There was a substandard sequel released more recently called 'The Hitcher 2' with Jake Busey as a demented psychopath. You may be thinking of that one -- the remake of 'The Hitcher' actually borrowed quite a few plot points from the sequel.

Hope that helps!

WOW! Just finished watching it and the PQ is worth a watch! The original is superior to the remake, but that car chase with NIN in the background was pretty cool. Again, the PQ was very impressive.
