I have this on laserdisc, still sealed and everything, so I think I should pop that one in instead. Can't bring myeself to shell out $20 on a movie I already have, unless I know I like it.

They just announced a new release date for September. It also looks to be a 2-disc special collectors edition.

The covers to both formats of the movie are in the link.Paramount Home Entertainment have announced the US Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD DVD release of Face/Off (Special Collector’s Edition) on 11th September 2007. John Travolta and Nicolas Cage star in this sci-fi action thriller from director John Woo which makes its debut on Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD day-and-date with the long-awaited Special Collector’s Edition DVD release in September.

I must admit the bluray box is better fitted for this movie's cover art - this doesn't really bother me much though
The same thing about the bluray fans probably feeling when they pick up 300 cuz its cover art is better suited for the HD-DVD's red box
meh still cant wait for this release! i hope the extras are in HD too (most 2 disc sets are included with 1080i extras)Bluray – 141

First news of the extras for the SD release here. I think we can expect the HD releases to mirror these.
Seems to be shaping up rather nicely. I never knew of an alternative ending...

I think I need to rent it again before I decide to buy it on HD. I saw it when it first came out, and it didn't leave much of an impression on me.

...I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but...no. That's just marketing nonsense. Blu-Ray isn't a limitless format. As time goes on we'll see more and more stuff like this.
I was on the fence about this one previously, but now that it's a 2-discer I'll probably pick it up.Those who trumpet their suffering are usually most deserving of agony.

I have a bootleg version on VHS of Woo's original cut of 'Hard Target'. And although the picture quality is rather dull, this version of the flick is fantastic. The gun fights have that 'Hard Boiled' or 'Better Tomorrow' feel to them. Extremely violent and operatic.
In other words, Everything the version that is on home video, is not. It's also about 35 minutes longer, with alot of character stuff inserted back into it.
Good stuff. I've been waiting for a legitimate version of this flick since '94.Toshiba 52HM84 DLP
