Thumbs up 'Superman: The Movie' -- High-Def Digest review

Checked out 'Superman' tonight:

http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/supermanthemovie.html

Another great 'Sup' disc. I heard some complaining about the transfer via recent broadcasts on HDNet, but it looks great on HD DVD -- no blocking and other artifact problems. Unfortunately, some of the supplements have been trimmed but the truly good stuff is still on there. Don't think fans will be disappointed.

Good Stuff.

This is one film I didn't have high expectations for an HD transfer because of age.

Loved your review, Peter. I can only hope the Blu-ray is largely identical. However, contrary to your description, I don't think the film is actually thirty decades old.

Looks like another great release. Does anyone know if they are releasing a boxset of the Superman movies like they are for DVD?

I've just bought the stunning SD-DVD 9-Disc Christopher Reeve Collection and i'm a little unsure whether or not to pick up the HD versions of Superman & Superman II. Does anyone know how much better the HD transfers are, if in fact they are better?

Can you tell me if there is an original SFX/Soundtrack version on the disc like they did for the recent 4 disc DVD release and not just that horrible reedited soundtrack one?

Thanks.

Resolution alone makes them better. The reviews so far indicate the transfers in HD are superb.

I first saw Superman:The Movie when i was 7 1/2 years old in 1978 and today I just finished watching it with my 10 yr old son. The picture looked amazing to me and it couldn't have sounded better (I have a very cheap surround sound system and it still sounded wonderful.

I recommend everyone to get this movie Superman Return's does'nt hold a candle to this great film.

Bit late to the game here, but the HDD review for this film says that Richard Lester is dead. He's not.
