We just posted Peter's review of 'Failure to Launch,' and while he found the film itself to be a bit of a trifle, it certainly meets expectations as a date movie. As an HD DVD release, this one boasts a 4 star (out of 5) video transfer and a solid-enough (3.5 star) sound track.
Why Paramount is choosing to release this HD DVD and its concurrently-released Blu-ray cousin with different encodes *and* different audio resolutions remains a mystery, although in the end the differences in presentation are negligible. I for some reason like this movie, and my wife wants nothing more to do with it. Which is even crazier because I can't stand Sarah Jessica Parker or anything about her. Anyways, just thought I'd feed the post counter.

Although the movie was semi-cute and semi-charming, my extreme dislike for Matthew McConaughey was enough for me to offer this movie a thumbs down. I would never watch it again and never, ever consider owning it on HD disc. It's the type of movie you'd want to pick up in the Wal-Mart 2 for $11 bin.
Anyway, to each his own!

All we know for sure about this one is that it failed to launch several times.
