hd dvd Serenity

they did not have a discussion link at http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/57/serenity.html

Anyway just received mine from http://astore.amazon.com/savehddvdcom-20/detail/B000FA57N0/104-3958647-4902364
It was a little higher than deepdiscount.com but they had it in stock and the regular shipping is a lot better and cheaper than deepdiscount.com
I look forward to watching it to night

I agree! What an awesome series. And Serenity is a really nice closure to the series.

What a shame that Fox dropped the ball on marketing and advertising the original series.

What's great is that you can see the entire series on DVD. And it's available for bargain prices these days. A great blind buy for those that have never seen it.

I agree
Althou Fox didn't drop the ball as badly as Universal did with Serenity.
First the name only meant something to the fans, and the moive posters didn't to much to sell it either..
Even today if a film was made called Millennium Falcon, without other words to describe it probably wouldn't do as well as it would with "Star WARS" in the title.

Serenity certainly sounds much more elegant than 'Firefly:The Movie' does, though.
It was made for Firefly fans and it doesn't matter to me that it wasn't a monster smash.
I suspect that there will be another one eventually even if Joss is working on other things at the moment.

I don't think it actually matters, the show wasn't really intended for HD or 5.1 sound. The unversalHD Firlefly didn't look that great IMHO.
Besides the price is outrageous.

True, but if it had been a success at the BO we would be talking about the sequels Serenity 2&3 out on DVD already.

I hope you are right about Joss.

I agree 100%!!! I think that "Firefly" has a bigger following then most even realize!!! I also know friends that had seen "Serenity" without first watching the series, then after seeing it-went out to purchase the series, which only gives you a greater appreciation and understanding of the movie!!! So a "Serenity 2" might have a larger fan base by the time of, if/when there is a release!!! Also with release of Firefly to Blu-ray only broadens the chances of a part 2 being that more successful!

Once again, imo you will enjoy the movie even better after seeing the original series!!! Does the movie holds up on it's own??? Yes, but all that more enjoyable after seeing "Firefly".

Why? as far as I know the Blu series doesn't have a release date yet.
The dvd series is cheap enough now, or if you don't want to buy it until it come out on blu you can rent or borrow it.
It is a good series IMHO. I wouldn't put off enjoying it.

Thats how I discovered the series. My sister called me up and asked if I wanted to go see Serenity. Im like "whats that" lol. She said you know Firefly. My response again was "whats that" lol. So we went and I loved it (she had no doubts that I wouldnt love it...I had just never heard of it). Left the theater and came home and ordered Firefly from Amazon (dvd).

So now once a month (or two). I have a big Firely/Serenity weekend. I BBQ and get the spread going and then start the series. Needless to say it takes two days and Im stuffed that weekend lol.

Cant wait to get the Firefly series in HD. Looking forward to it.

***Little back story to the reason I had never heard of it. I was living out in the boondocks in NC at the time (Im from California, which is where I am now) and there was no movie theater and I really didnt watch much TV during that time. So I had just movied back to California (civilization) to run my sisters company. And the movie had come out and I had only been back for a couple of months.

Have owned the domestic release, the UK import and two DVD versions of Serenity. Probably my favorite flick. I agree that you should watch Firefly first, as it will probably give you a better connection with the characters.

Looking forward to hearing Serenity on Blu in DTS-HD MA (I hope). I said "hearing" as they'll probably use the same encode for the video that they used for the HD DVD.
