Exclamation HD-A3 HD DVD Prolm ? Please Help ????

Hello I have a Toshiba HD-A3 . I heard somewhere that the machine only upconverts ( -R ) Dvd's not, and does not upconvert ( Dvd +R Dvd's. ) And Now it will not play a Burned +R DVD.

This concerns me because I have a Lite-On drive that Bookmarks all my +R Media. Plus ( -R ) to my understanding cannot be Booktyped.......

My A3 plays both DVD+R and DVD-R just fine. Which brand of discs are you using?

I have an A3 and it is definitely finicky about +R media. In the manual it only lists support for -R, so any +R that works should be considered a bonus. It is probably not a coincidence that Sony is one of the main companies in the +R camp (and I have a Sony DVD changer that loves +R's but won't play anything -R), which would explain why Toshiba leans -R.

That and the fact that -R was developed & approved by the DVD Forum. While the +R format was developed in mid 2002, it was not recognized as an "official" DVD format by the DVD Forum until this past January.

Back on topic, just about every Verbatum +R DL I've burned plays on my HD DVD players. Don't know if it really helps, but I always burn my DVDs at the slowest speed possible.
