Default Thicker Import Cases?

Wonder why they are thicker and only some of them?

It's a different type of case from a different company.

Amaray = fat ones
Elite = normal HD-DVD case

I actually prefer the fat ones. The HD DVD logo looks much nicer and the cases themselves are very solid.

What pisses me off though is ordering foreign HD DVDs that are in Elite cases but have cover art with a spine that was designed for the Amarays.

I like my titles to be uniform.

You can get replacement American-style HD DVD cases off of eBay. Be warned though, you may have to trim some cover inserts very slightly for them to fit properly.

Is there any place to get replacement (thicker) import HD-DVD case replacements? An HD-DVD from The Hut had its center hub broken on arrival, thankfully the disc seems ok, but for the price to return it and such (and have to wait and hope a new one comes ok) I'm trying to find other alternatives...

I agree they look better. I also like how the HD DVD logo is bright silver (almost chrome-like)

I have some of the fatties. I use them to make a set. Like with both the Tomb Raider movies. I get me a custom cover and then use a hub to create 2 disc case.

Obviously you can do the same with the skinnies but its kinda cool to have the fatties used for sets.

I like 'em in all shapes and sizes. Makes my shelf look less monotonous.
