Default Which Digital Video Essentials is better?

http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Video-...4539536&sr=8-2

or

The newer version is available on Blu as well, so I could get either of those. But I'm wondering if people prefer the original, which is only available on . What exactly is the difference?

That is the second one you meant to post, I think.

The most recent one is supposed to be the "better" one if I can remember correctly. The most recent one is the non combo version.

The first one only had instructions or something on the DVD side. You probally want the new one.

Cool, I guess I'll go with the newer version. According to reviews, this product still leaves a bit to be desired, but it's better than nothing.

I just got the HD only version. There are several features that explain how calibration is supposed to work, and then they show how to use the test patterns. It's probably good to take some notes so that when you go to the patterns, you know what to do.

I bought the first version when it came out and it was frustrating to have to learn how to use it on the DVD side and then flip it over to actually use it...that is, if I didn't forget how to navigate through the labyrinth menu structure to get where I needed to be. I think I gave up as it was about as intuitive as retaking my old differential equations exams. I'll probably end up double dipping on the newer version though and giving it another shot.
