Default TONS of newly stocked HD DVDs at my local Frys

I was in my Local Frys yesterday and they got a HUGE shipment of HD DVDs. At one point this Frys had all of the HD DVD's off the shelf and on a small isle middle shelf. But yesterday they re-stocked nearly every hd dvd title with 20+ copies of each. There were boxes upon boxes upon boxes of HD DVD's still waiting to go up on the shelf. Looks like the pricing is $9.00 for most.

This Frys is in San Diego. Anyone else seeing this at their local Frys? Maybe my local Frys was really strong for HD DVD so other Fry's are shipping all their inventory to them?

You're about two weeks late. The pricing was $9.99 for select Warner titles this weekend. The $9.00? for Weinstein titles has been the norm for a couple of months now.

Has Universal pricing fallen to this level yet?

I said nothing about weinstein titles or that it's new news that select titles are $9.99. Simply stated my local Fry's has more brand new HD DVD invenotry than it ever has and has more titles on the self than blu-ray at the moment.

Alot of universal titles were $9.00. The one that really caught my eye was Planet Earth for $29.99. The guy was halfway stocking the shelves with HD DVD when i saw it. I'm going to go back and check out the final prices on everything.

Not long ago I saw a survey that said 4% owned BD players, 6% owned HD DVD (excluding consoles of course). And that most HD DVD people would just buy discs until it wasn't available. Well now I know where they can buy since on all the big box stores it's relegated to one panel or in bargain bills by now.

Default Fry's

Same thing at my local Fry's in Chicago (Downers Grove). Full boxes upon boxes being put up yesterday when I stopped by after work.

Gotta love it.

I will swing by one in Houston tomorrow on my way home from work. It's about 7 minutes from my house. I was there a couple of weeks ago, and while some titles were MIA, the HD DVD section was about as big as it ever was.

Let me know how the one in Houston looks. My sister is always in there and she can pick some up for me if the selection is good.

Sounds better than I remember it, messin.

Has Atonement dropped below $27 anywhere yet?

I just got back from the Fry's on the Southwest Freeway in Houston. They are definitely in HD Close-out mode. They had lots of titles for $11.99 and some for $9.99. The recent "Premium" titles, like Bonnie and Clyde are gone. they still had American Gangster, but wanted $19.99 for it.

Among the sale titles: all the Kubricks, The Searchers, Forbidden Planet, Robin Hood, Goodfellas, Casablanca, some Bourne titles, Troy DC, I Am Legend, Caddyshack, Unforgiven, Last Samurai, Letters From Iwo Jima, the Harry Potter movies, and gazillions of copies of Blood Diamond and Beerfest. The discs are not only in the usual HD DVD spot, but also in bins around the store.

I picked up Battle of the Bulge, Superman the Movie and The Dirty Dozen for 11.99 each, and The Cowboys and Jailhouse Rock for $9.99 each.

If you do go make sure you check around the store. The one by me had three spots; the regular aisle, a bin near the front, and more on a shelf right before the checkstands near the candy.

You must have been in the same store. That is exactly how they were laid out. I forgot to mention-many copies of Batman Begins as well.

Great, thanks. I have to get her in there and pick some up for me. I will be down there in August but don't think any HD DVD's will be left by then.
