Default First Look Announces HD DVD support with 'The Contract'

Another new outfit comes to HD DVD:

Okay, maybe it is not Disney, but they seem to have an interesting spate of indie films in their young library. Should be interesting, nonetheless.

This is the First Look website. They have a interesting collection of films. Some of which would be cool additions to the HD DVD group. First Look resembles Magnolia.

Definitely want that! I also like the fact that they've got a fairly eclectic grouping of different genres of film.

WooHoo!!! 9 pictures that no one has ever heard of to this studio's name! Watch out! HD-DVD's making a comeback now! I tell you, I can't live without a copy of "Paris, Je T'aime" in HD. HooBoy!

...How is this different from last week's Blu-Ray announcement of new exclusive studio Exoptron --which got slammed left-and-right by HD-DVD-lovers here?

Look no one stated that the release of "The Contract" is any better or worse than the upcoming Exoptron titles. We're just happy to be able to buy a hot new action pic starring exceptional thesps John Cusack & Morgan Freeman. DO I detect an underlying feeling of jealousy in your comment?

By the way, for the previous Posters, I cannot figure out the long acronym ending in CMFT or something like that. What is the name of the film you are referencing?

how come the aspect ratio for the thetrical release is 2.35:1 but for the HD DVD release is 1.78:1 ?? is it some kind of mistake, even the aspect ratio for the trailer is 2.35:1 .

Default Good news

This is really good news in a rough week for hddvd. This is what hddvd needs to do to stay in the game. Now if they could just convince Warner and another major studio to do the same, that would be great!

That is one strange preview.

Amazon has The Contract up for pre-order, $22.95.

Pretty mediocre reviews for the movie itself, but I went ahead & ordered it. Great cast, should look great in high def, and to support First Look in releasing on HD DVD.

I just watched 'The Contract' in spite of warnings that the movie was lousy. Boy what a waste of time and money! How did they get Freeman and Cusack to agree to do this flick, they must be friends with the director/producer or I just don't get this? It had a lousy script, lousy plot, lousy acting and was a complete waste of time! This was in all honesty the worst movie I have seen so far in 2007!

I gave this movie my lowest score of the year on IMDB, be warned, rent before you buy!

By the way, I watched it on HD DVD at a friends house and would rate it like this:

Movie: 1/5
Video: 4/5
Audio: 3/5

I was to irritated with the movie to remember the audio to well, but the video looked good on a 50" plasma.
