Default HD-DVD prices going back up movies must be getting low

Purchased Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow on May 30th from Amazon for $ 11.95 new, checked price today and it is $19.95

Other Examples

Harry potter set was $ 79.95 now it is $ 104.95
Ocean's Trilogy was 34.99 now it's 55.95

I am Legend was $19.99 since it came out now it's 24.95

Transformers has jumped up to $ 27.95

Going to Fry's the other day incredibly shrinking stock and movies appear to have jumped $ 5-10 for some titles

Looks like the stock on titles is getting close to that point

It's very possible that stock is running low and that Amazon is content to sell what they have left at the normal 30% discount until stock is depleted. On the other hand, perhaps it's just a temporary markup and HD DVD is just between sales right now. Last month Paramount title were marked back up like they are now, only to revert to the lower prices a week later. However this time the markups are more widespread and include the WB titles. Fortunately Universal's MSRP has been reduced, and Amazon has had the minimum 30% off on those titles for some time anyway, so they really can't mark those up without ending the 30% off all HDM commitment that they've kept for over 2 years now. I wish I would've ordered a few a those titles that they marked up, so hopefully they'll lower them again or I'll just have to pay more. In any case, it's still not a bad price.

Barring any extreme sales, I think I have pretty much finished my pursuit of HD DVDs. One or two more, maybe...

I've built a pretty solid collection for having not bought into the format until the last week of January of this year. So, no regrets.

it could mean that.

but when you are trying to sell a discontinued product, you don't raise prices. you keep them low until you sell out. and then it's done.

I wonder about this also. I was planning on getting as many hd dvd's as possible but the price's seem to be going up. I don't really buy on online except for ebay. It look's like we may be stuck only having blu-ray soon. Does anybody know what happened to all the stock best buy and circuit city sent back?

Prices definitely on the rise. Had my eyes on "No Reservations" for awhile it was $14.99 at Fry's for quite some time, went today to pick up a copy and it was now $26.99 there were only a few titles under $19.99 you could actually see the double stickers where they came by and raised the price up on the HD-DVD's

i don't think so.

new warner titles have been high for a while. weinstein titles are still low. universal titles vary but it all depends on where you shop.

deals are available, you just have to know where to look.

I had the Ocean's Trilogy in my cart for Amazon, and it was at about $35 for weeks. Today it jumped to $55-ish. I was waiting for it to sink even further. Oops.
