Default Best Buy Surveying HD DVD Owners

Quote:
Dear WILL E

Best Buy is conducting a brief survey among consumers who purchased an HD DVD player at Best Buy over the past two years. We believe you will find it interesting to complete and we are truly interested in your opinions.

Best Buy is partnering with Lieberman Research, a national consumer research firm, to conduct this exciting study.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this study, please contact

Missy Konopasek at: konopasekm [at] liebermanresearch [dot] com.

We look forward to your opinions.

So I went to fill it out, and filled out about 3-4 questions and got this.

Quote:
Thank you for your interest in our survey.
Due to overwhelming response we have already met our quota of responses.
Has anyone else received this same email and actually filled out the survey?

interesting, I'll have to check our email.

What kind of questions were they?

~EDIT~
You might want to pull Missy's email address so she doesn't get spamed or flooded by the blubot attack mechanism. But I would write to her and ask whats happening. It could be there was too huge a response from HD owners already or it could be the email went out prematurely and the data base wasn't ready yet.

never mind my wife got the email at her in box, I forgot BB reward zone had her email on it. Makes senses since she prints out the reward zone coupons

Interesting questions. Some were standard far "how does BB compare to...", but a lot fed in to the HD format war and HD Dvd and how they handle it. Believe you me she left them a scorching rebuke. Better than I would have

I think several things are happening, the first and biggest is blu is not being jumped in to the way they expected, and they are wondering "is this still the format war? Do people know it is finished." I think the people who cared know and it hasn't changed their buying habits and the rest either don't know or never cared.

The Second thing is I think they are still getting flak, rightfully so, about HD DVD from the buyers. The fact that yesterday some many responded speaks to this.

I glad she got her voice in, I hope more of you did as well, if not try it again or I'd write to the survey group and hope for a reasonable response.

I got the e-mail but they wouldn't take me in the survey, same as above, too many respondents already.

You'd think they'd want as much info as possible and as many answers as they could, but oh well.

Truth is Best Buy is having a hard time selling me anything currently, partly due to gasoline prices, partly due to being pissed off at their handling of returns back during the holidays ("no receipt, no return" = very mad terpfan1980), and mostly due to their prices that are generally higher than much better alternatives like Amazon.

I have the $50 gift card from Best Buy still sitting here. It will likely get used in a few weeks, probably on a second PS3 for my home. Biggest reason for getting the box there is that I'll have a few more Best Buy gift cards from credit card rewards programs over the next couple of weeks to put with it. When everything is combined, I should be able to make a reasonable dent in the price of the box and won't bust the budget to the point that my wife will be furious with me. I suppose I could wait on the PS3, but I've been planning to get a second one for a while as I don't like having to move the box between rooms so I can watch a BD while the wife watches something over DirecTV or vice versa.

I'm wondering if they aren't filtering out certain demographics. Maybe they had the quota of male respondents and needed Female. Or maybe it is a simple as they had a quota and hit it, but to me it doesn't make sense to ask for an option and then not accept it.

Sup guys, I got the e-mail and completed all of it. First of all it took maybe 5-10 mins.

At first it was basic stuff like..what's your demographics..do you like buying tech online...do you read about tech stuff...where do you buy...how does BB compare to (and they had almost everyone else listed).

Then it got interesting. It asked how much we thought BB cared about their customers...in various ways. "Does BB ever leave you hanging?" (I thought that was an odd question...like if BB was a friend of mine?). Or, "Does BB care about its customers?". I rated BB low because I've had probs with online pickups and dealing with salesfloor people.

Then, it started to question how much we knew of the Blu vs HD DVD war. It went through it all, then mentioning how BB gave it's customers GCards for their HD DVD purchases. Another noteworthy part, it asked the value of the Gcard that I received. I got $50, but there were options in the hundreds (up to around $250). Some people got that? Maybe multiple players?

Another interesting bit, they wanted to know if I spent it yet. I said "no", and it branched into, "Why not?" I clicked on "saving for a big purchase". Then they wanted to know "What kind of product?". I clicked on "video game system". At this point I kinda figured the purpose of the survey. They ended with, "Now that we reminded you of the Gcard for the HD DVD, how does BB treat their customers?". Ha..BB...you got me there! So, I rated them slightly higher the second time around. I responded to a few other questions...the gist being..."I would feel more comfortable buying new tech...and buying it in BB."

At that point, I kinda feed them what they wanted to hear, what I thought would be beneficial for us. I wanted to show that it was a good move giving us the Gcards for the purchase and that we would be more likely to shop with them due to that. Hey, why not...maybe they'd do it again...

I received one too on Friday. Basically it asked you to suck up to Best Buy because they were so generous in giving out gift cards.

Hahahaha...... good thing they didn't send me that survey. I'd tell them exactly how I feel.
