The first step is admitting you have a problem....
I'm out of control everytime I get all the discs I want I make a new list....
I don't think I will stop until i have every disc ever pressed. When I get my last disc they will probally be worth as much as an 8-track collection. oh well its fun and my bills are still paid...Even though I could have invested this money into something with a better return. Anyone out there said enough is enough?

I'm pretty much the same way. It's getting to where the prerequisite for getting it, is not having it already. At least it makes decisions easier. However I doubt the value will drop as much as some people think. That's because HD DVD is, and will always be, just as good as Blu-ray. Therefore, don't expect a better format than HD DVD to come along for many years. At that point, THEN the discs may start to lose some serious value.

Umm I don't have a problem! Really! I Swear!

This is actually rather funny as a good friend of mine calls me "the crow" He swears if somethig is shiny I will collect it

But a to what I am buying now it is depressing to see "200+ HD DVD lot for sale" and I got thru the list and can't find a SINGLE title I don't have already. So then I moved overseas where I may already have the disc but they gave them new covers and fanciful names...And so I have 3 copies of Underworld..from 3 different Countries (but one is the extended version, one has extras and one has a lossless track)..

I am now buying movies in languages I don't even understand. The order I just gave Christopher from Amazon France had like 7 movies in it that have NO english at all on the disc..but they ARE shiny

Once again I have no problem......

Thats what I was wondering about the Amazon France version of Arizona Dream it looks different then the one I got. Mine is in the big ugly australian style case. I think it came for Belgium? I'd rather have the french one but my addiction hasn't progressed to double dipping imports yet.

I don't have a problem as long as I can still find & get all the HD DVDs I still wanted to get and didn't yet Well, storage space is a bit of a problem and my spending budget has been stretched these past months, but especially with all the sales that have been going on, there's been no way to resist.

My purchasing speed was at the highest level around February-May but now I've slowed down already as I have most of the titles I wanted to get already. Still picking up a couple here and there, but my budget is getting back on track gradually. The adrenalin rush of importing from exotic sites is something I will miss if I don't get any of that action later on

lol, I've already crossed that line. First with T2 (any serious HD DVD collector must own the Steelbook) and recently with Renaissance (I like the French cover better) , Brother's Grimm (Spanish subs for the wife) and the Pianist (needed to complete my Toshiba Ent. collection).

I've only double dipped on The Pianist (UK and JP), Underworld (German and JP), Babel (U.S. and JP), The Prestige (UK and JP) and T2 (German and French) so far. I've not started triple-dipping yet

Doh, part of the reason it's no longer a viable format?

At $ 32.99 each plus up to 15% tax in Canada, I don't think ANYTHING WOULD HAVE BEEN A VIABLE FORMAT.

Hence the reason that Bluray still cannot make a dent even after Warner pulled the Bitch Slap of the new millenium at CES 2008.

i'm buying what i want to buy and until blu-ray can prove that it's not going anywhere, i'll keep buying what i want to buy. i will still vote with my consumer dollar. i just got brotherhood of the wolf from dvd.co.uk. and it's very pretty.

Default HD-DVD's

Sometimes I think I should never have gotten involved with HD-DVD and simply waited out the format war like I swore I was going to do in the first place.
But - then:
- I watch one of my movies on my perfectly functioning hd-dvd player
- I check out prices for blu-ray equipment and movies
- I read comments from folks about quirks & issues with combo & blu-ray players
- I buy a few more HD-DVD's
- and then I feel better!

I must confess that I refuse to pay high prices for HD-DVD's - I am in the $10 per movie top price mode these days - and still buying way too many movies - double dipping already owned standard def dvd's - getting pristine condition and/or unopened titles here, EBay, etc. But, there are worse addictions, right?

So far I've double dipped on T2 (Yeah I too had to have that Steelbook..) and Crank I have both the Blu and Red versions. Have I slowed down? Hell no. I'm getting the titles I want now at great prices because I know once they are ported over to Blu the prices on ones I want won't be near as good.
