Thumbs up 'Goblet of Fire' UK Import - High-Def Digest Review

By popular demand, we're finally posting our first review of an imported high-def disc -- the UK-released HD DVD edition of 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.'

To be clear, our primary focus here at High-Def Digest remains news and reviews related to high-def discs released in the U.S., but beginning with this disc, we will (from time to time) review region-free imports that we think may be of interest.

Full review here:
http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/harry...offire_uk.html

For more info on importing HD DVD discs, check out Blurry's dedicated thread:

Special thanks to Karl for loaning us this disc and getting us started on the right foot!

Thanks for reviewing a UK disc! Can someone please lend them the UK version of The Pianist?

Well, this is going to be the first in which I disagree with a review on this site. Sorry, but this transfer deserves a much higher ranking than four stars. The scenes mentioned are too small and minute to diminish from a 4.5 to 5 rating -- and this is based on other sites which reviewed the disc when it was released.

As for The Pianist, this is also another excellent film transfer. It really took the wife and I by surprise; and I recommend it for anyone who hasn't watched it yet or own it.

The disc PQ should be a 4.5 .

I have this feeling that this movie will be release in US very soon.

Thanks for pointing out my miscommunication -- I adjusted my review to clarify my thoughts on this issue. Sorry for the confusion. It certainly wasn't just the three small scenes I mentioned, otherwise it would've been a 4.5 as you suggested. It was many of the candle lit scenes, particuarly in the first act (there are quite a few).

Thanks as always for your input!

Could you review Blu-ray import movies as well? It's only fair, right? Like Cinderella Man, Hostel, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, etc.

I loved this film, this is what HD is all about...films like this.
I'm getting addicted to Brit movies right now. They have such a gritty realism. It makes the experience and escapism so much more real.

If they ever do region encode it, someone post so I'll know before ordering it!
