Default 'Relentless Enemies' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter's review of 'National Geographic: Relentless Enemies' is up.
Although the film itself is likely to be a bit dry for mainstream audiences, Peter says fans of nature documentaries won't be disappointed. All audiences should appreciate the stunning cinematography on display on this high-def release, which boasts a 4.5 star (out of 5) video transfer and a solid 4 star soundtrack.

I am watching it as I read your post. It is gorgeous with excellent PQ (though I agree that it is not quite a 5). An interesting watch, though I agree that it is a bit dry like many nature programs ("March of the Penguins" is much better in this respect), but a definite recommendation for fans of nature programs.

Default doesn't play in 360 hd dvd

I've rented 2 copies of this movie from Netflix and neither one played in my XBOX 360 HD-DVD player. I get an "unable to read disc" message. Is anyone else experiencing this? So far this is the only movie I've had problems with. Thanks.

After several months since this was released, I want to ask people once again if anybody has been able to see this on the 360-add on. I exchanged my disc at fry's a few days ago for the 3rd time...and it still does not work.

Is there anything being done to fix this or what?

Default XBox Can't Read

I too am experiencing an XBox rejection of this disc. It cannot read the disc. Thanks to this forum I understand it is most likely a disc problem. I have the latest version of the Xbox update to date as of 18 Sept. 2007. I have seen this disc work fine in the Tosh A1 and A2. Must just be an Xbox issue.

I was too scared to purchase this because of known playback problems that have plagued this title from the day it was released. I remember the big add-on update failed to help many people so I still don't know which players this title works in. I wish someone would update us all on the playback status of this title.

Picked this up at bargain price from Deep Discount last week.

All I can say is wow! This is an amazing HD DVD for those who enjoy these type of Nature documentaries. The picture doesn't seem quite as sharp as other titles, but that doesn't detract from the amazing colors only nature can provide. There is literally hours of footage; Watched it the other night and I just could not turn it off, I was addicted from the start. The documentaries are detailed, informative, and introduce the harsh reality that is Nature. This is a collectors item that is an easy recommend. By the way I had no issues what-so-ever playing this on my HD-A3.

We watched this title today, after having it sit on our shelf for many months (having purchased it at fire-sale prices from Fry's). What an excellent disc. Naturally you have to be a fan of wildlife documentaries to enjoy this, but Nat'l Geo did a great job on it. The extra feature on Cheetah's is also excellent, although not shot in HD unfortunately.
Look for it - and grab it on blu-ray or HD-DVD.
