Default Children of Men review is here!

Let the conspiracy theories fade away and post your thoughts on what is an excellent and well written review (good job Ken!). I'd be more than happy to wait an extra day or two for reviews, after release, if they will all be of this caliber.

Great movie, I wholeheartedly recommend it; maybe the best movie I saw in 2006. Will be picking up the HD DVD very soon...

I recieved the movie and saw it last night. I had to watch it on DVD because my girlfriend was with me and we would not fit in my small HDTV area where I play my 360 and watch my HD-DVD movies. So I cant comment on the PQ of the HD-DVD side of the combo disk.

Anywoo, I thought that it was great movie. Truly gripping stuff, you could just feel the decay and depression that is present in the film. I am so glad that I have bought this film.

Before watching the movie, I read the original book. There will be some "hardcore" fans of the book that will be disappointed in knowing that there have been ALOT of changes made from book to movie.

After watching the movie, as a fan of the book, I was not all too disappointed in its translation. IMO, this film is in the rare category of being good despite the amount of changes from its original book. The movie does stand on its own apart from the original source.

I cannot wait to see it again on my HDTV with the i-control.

Default Amazing!

I picked up this movie last night on HD-DVD and I was blown away by the quality of this disc. First I want to get this out of the way, I love this site I visit this site DAILY. I was looking forward to this review for a week now, just refreshing and waiting for it. I cannot believe that this movie didnt get 41/2 to 5 stars because the print is near perfect, its a visual feast! I cant believe that this site gave "HULK" a 5 star visual rating but not "children of men" what a shame I tell you. Ken is complaining about a few specks here and there? "Hulk" has plenty of that, thats a bunch of boulavard if you ask me!

Ok, done with that rant.

I just want to say anybody that owns HD-DVD, this disc is a must own!

Just thought I would mention that it played fine in my Xbox 360. I'm not sure if they have posted a firmware update since the review. I didn't notice any sort of update when the movie started.

Am I the only one that wasn't completely blown away by the PQ? Yes, the colors were very vivid when there was the need for them, and there were no artifacts or much grain, but it didn't have that "this is definitely HD" feeling IMO. It may have been the drab color palette, but there weren't many scenes that popped, and some of the time I felt like I was watching an upconverted DVD rather than an HD DVD.

Just my 2 cents. Maybe I'll have to look into adjusting the projector settings if everyone else is thinking the PQ is so phenomenal. Where the hell is DVE?!!

The PQ was great but not reference. The movie though, was more than fantastic. Finally watched it tonight and am not upset at all over this blind buy. Very powerful movie, just great all the way around.

I bought this movie simply because i thought id give my contribution to HD sales for the month and hopefully this movie can sell close to what bond did and make a few studios shake theyre head that there blu ray exclusive.... i was surpirsed with how good the film was and the transfer as far as im concerned for a non action movie was really good. Close second right after Batman for me.

Thumbs up PQ on children of men

I am shocked to read a few readers here say that this movie was not reference quality. I am running this movie with a XA2 player through my DLP samsung TV. It has been calibrated to ISF standards as well by Avical. I have to question the displays your viewing this movie on if dont think this movie is near to reference quality. Yes this movie is a doom and gloom looking flim but jeez that shouldnt stop a movie from becoming reference quality. It is what it is, and let me tell you quality plays a major part in movie viewing. I saw this film back in January, my ex took me to see it at some crummy looking screen and we sat pretty far back. Let me tell you, I thought the movie was descent when I left and I didnt appreciate the visuals people were raving about. When I got this movie on HD forget about, I was blown away.

Well thats just my two cents about the PQ on this disc.
