Default 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day (Ultimate HD-Edition)' German Import - High-Def Digest Re

Peter's review of 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day (Ultimate HD-Edition)' German Import has been posted. He says this HD DVD boasts both the theatrical and extended cuts of the film, tons of supplemental material, and video and audio that outranked the domestic version. If you want to pick up a great last hurrah of an HD DVD disc, 'Terminator 2' is certainly worth considering.

Awesome.

Much better review than I was fearing it might get. Especially given some of the reviews it's gotten elsewhere.

I feel much better about having ordered it now and am very anxious for it to arrive.

I really want this but I don't want to spend any more money on HD DVD. I also don't want the crappy version they have on Blu-ray right now. Anyone know if we will get the ultimate edition on blu-ray anytime soon?

By chance is anyone here from Germany? I would like to know how much it is being sold for over there. A co-worker is going to Germany on Friday and if its not horribly expensive I plan to have her pick a copy up for me. I'd really rather not pay more than $30 though if possible.

On top of that, Kinowelt/Imagion present 'T2' on this HD DVD in both the theatrical and director's cut versions (both are provided via seamless branching), so this is truly a "hodgepodge" of a release.
What the hell? I've heard nothing about that.

In fact, Kinowelt's trailer specifically only mentions that it's the "remastered Director's Cut".

With the current exchange rate, you'll still pay $45 or so.

It's 30 euro on Amazon.de. Which translates to around $45~ USD.

Is the DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio a typo, or has Peter accessed a track that others haven't been able to find?

I can't really put my finger on it, but it looks like the reviewer doesn't want me to buy this version (which I already did anyways, it arrived today)...

The review feels pretty forced, he doesn't really like the flick, he's not that into the special features, he "feels" the video differences between the BD are negligible (I differ, BD is too grainy, HD is waaay cleaner), it's like he's just had ENOUGH of seeing ANOTHER T2 edition, and the article ends reminding everyone that HD DVD is dead...

So, is it just me, or the review is a little bitter overall?

Ps. Hello everyone long time reader, first time poster, always check here for reviews and discussions before buying... Sporadic, I got to Saul Williams by NIN, cool pic.

Welcome to the boards Arturo! I think Peter clarifies his position about the release and your concerns pretty well in his last two sentences:
"It's a shame that HD DVD is dead, if only because we won't get great discs like this anymore that boast so many interactive bells and whistles. But if you want to pick up a great last hurrah of an HD DVD disc, 'Terminator 2' is certainly worth considering."
Hope that helps alleviate your concern (at least a bit). Thanks for posting!

Im a little weary on importing HD titles now.
I figure that theyll come out in the US on BD for cheaper.

Is the soundtrack DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 or DTS-HD 7.1

The specs said it was DTS-HD 7.1

Also the specs only said it contained the Director's Cut.

Does it have the theaterical cut also?

Now I'm really confused.

I also thought HD DVD didn't have seamless branching.

Peter can you clear this up for us as far the specs go for sound & the version.

Thanks.

I know the exact same feeling, even BD imports. I just dropped 2 bills on BoB, which I did feel a little guilty about. But I really enjoyed the series when I initially saw it a few years ago and had to have it now in hi-def Impulse at it's finest... However, I am resisting the temptation to order T2 Steelbook.
