I am getting this as well. Amazingly, even my 4 year old kid enjoyed "Die Zauberflote", and kept pulling it out to play on occasion - he chooses his own movies from my shelves pretty often.

I am hoping they also come out with "La Boheme" as well since I am pretty sure that was in their production list, and it would be great to get these works on HD DVD.

Amazon wants $31.95, claiming it is a 31% savings on a list price of $45.98.

I have a marginal appreciation for Opera; I might go for it at a lower price.

Just as long as the kid doesn't understand the back story told in this opera where an infant was killed after being thrown in a fire! This opera has some of the greatest music ever written and quite possibly, the most convoluted plot.

Think the retail price may be wrong as is at $45.98 at amazon and dvd pacific, which is the price the other titles have been so far. Have pre-ordered from pacific as postage works out better to australia. Also Opus Arte website have La Centertola listed for Blu-ray but not HD . Does anyone know if we will be getting this on HD as well or Blu-ray only?

Opus Arte has said they will eventually release things on Blu-Ray. The price may be a bit higher on Blu due to authoring/replication costs.

Check the Opera on HDM thread at AVS.

Won't happen--even on E-bay the Opus Arte titles sell for over $25. Believe me, my cheap ass has tried to find lower prices.

Josh and Co., since you guys reported this, does this mean we might actually see a review of a ballet or opera disc from you? You've reviewed concert discs. Therefore, I see no reason that high art can't be reviewed as well.

OK, you convinced my cheap ass I wouldn't save much $$$ waiting, so went to my Amazon cart - they seem to be out of stock already - Availability: Usually ships within 3 to 6 weeks. Ships from and sold by Amazon.com.

Bit dissapointing they won't be releasing on HD anymore. I suppose was to be expected. Have A PS3 anyway for Bluray but have Xe1 for HD which I'd prefer to use.
Preordered at Dvdpacific but has also gone on backorder . Looks like their supply is not meeting demand.

Yeah, Amazon was giving me a shipping estimate of April 28, but with the way HD DVD has been disappearing, I was afraid they won't get more in stock. I picked up the last copy in stock from DVD Empire, for the same price of $31.95, but without Amazon's free shipping.

They showed having one in stock this morning (I guess they 'found' one or someone canceled ), so I ordered it. I'm not much a an Opera fan, but if it's HD, I'll give just about anything a try.

Yeah, I can only take opera in limited quantity, but Opus Arte has such a good reputation. Looks like you scored the only copy Amazon had, but in checking their Marketplace seller Caiman has it for $28.95 + $2.98 shipping. I've bought from them before and their service is good for anyone interested in picking this up.
