Default 'Things We Lost in the Fire' - High-Def Digest Review

Kenneth's review of 'Things We Lost in the Fire' has been posted. He wasn't too wild about the movie, and says this HD DVD has a remarkable video transfer, but a lackluster Dolby Digital Plus audio track. This is a rental.

I highly appreciated this film. It told a fantastic story, and to top it off, had a great cast to tell it. Excellent film.

Surpasses the theatrical print, really? Every time I see a comment like that in a review I can't help but be a little skeptical. HD is still a technical downgrade, even though it's a much nicer one than DVD. Could you maybe elaborate?

Perhaps you were too busy analyzing the film to really fall into the story and the characters? Isn't the director supposed to manipulate the audience?

I thought this film was amazing and extremely enjoyable. 9/10 rating on the film itself from me.

Well, I think, in terms of comparable scenarios, it could be true. He wasn't watching the Blu-ray on a theater screen.

I couldn't find this at any stores, and I wanted the $20.99 Best Buy price, so I ordered it from Best Buy.com. I look in the mailbox, today, excited to see a package, open it up and it's Beowulf!! Which I already have. Now I have to return this movie to a store and then re-order the movie and wait on the shipping, again.

Finally popped this underrated gem into my player last night. I really enjoyed the story and Benicio Del Toro burns up the screen with another mesmorizing performance. He's one of those rare actors that has the ability to pull you in deep into a story. PQ was top notch! If you haven't yet added this movie to your collection, what the hell you waiting for?

Is it worth a double dip on PQ alone? I already own it on SD, which looks fantastic. Is it up there with Hot Fuzz, The Prestige (Japanese), Underworld imports, The Island (UK), MI 3, I Am Legend...? I really only want to double dip if it's reference quality picture.

If you love the movie, then yes it's worth it. This movie isn't hi-def eye candy like a blockbuster like Transformers or Beowolf, but it really shines well on . The detail is amazing, every pore, wrinkle, facial emotion is absolutely stunning. The definition and detail of this transfer adds to the pain, depression, addiction, anguish, happiness, and all the other emotions these characters go through. Get rid of your standard dvd and upgrade already. lol
