Default 'Michael Clayton' - High-Def Digest Review

Kenneth's review of 'Michael Clayton' has been posted. He liked the movie and says this HD-DVD release does a good job transferring a difficult film for home viewing. While the audio and video tracks don't stand above other high-def titles, they're still faithful to the material and an improvement over the standard DVD. This one is recommended.

Paramount decided to forego sending screener copies of its last few HD DVD releases to review outlets -- we have to pick up our own copies at retail to cover those titles. Rest assured, reviews are on the way!

Ohh ok, sorry. I picked up Into the Wild anyway just for the novelty of buying an HD DVD new release ha. I have been looking forward to picking this one up for awhile...three weeks actually . A definite must-buy come Tuesday, hopefully the Sunday ads have it at a great price.

Why do the reviewers waste time reviewing these films that are the same encoding as the film they reviewed 3 weeks before?
I understand its always been that way but now its starting to show with the delay and all. Priorities should put Into The Wild or Things We Lost in The Fire to be reviewed first.

it's simultaneously funny and disturbing to see such angry comments from people who

a) don't a hand in running HDD (therefore have no say in how it's run)

b) don't know what's happening behind-the-scenes (i.e. as ken mentioned, paramount is not promoting "into the wild" and "things we lost in the fire" on hd dvd)

if you guys are really itching for reviews of "into the wild" and "things we lost in the fire", then please buy copies of those hd dvds and express mail them to HDD's reviewers. otherwise, have the courtesy to let the staff members do things as time (and money) permits as they have to obtain copies on their own time with their own money.

the deleted scenes are just okay, but the one with jennifer ehle is pretty cool in some ways. for one, you can see that many of the shots in that scene still made it into the final cut. the scene also adds some dimensions to the main character, though ultimately, the information presented in the dialogue merely repeats what we learn elsewhere in the final cut.

I watched a rental of the Blu-ray and was suprised at how good the movie is. Understand that I'm someone that is pretty friggin' tired of George Clooney for a variety of reasons and yet I thought the movie was very, very good.

If you like Grisham's legal novels, if you like legal dramas/thrillers that have come out in the past, then you'll enjoy this movie. The story is good, the acting is impressive, and the movie does a very good of sucking you and keeping you watching.

The only complaint I had about the Blu-ray, which seems to have carried over to the HD DVD, is it's sparce on extras which I use to help justify purchase. If there was more extras there, I'd be buying without a doubt. As the discs are now, rental might be best for most people, but don't think for a minute it's not a good movie (unless you want to call it a great film )

i loved this movie. so glad i picked it up on HD. I actually venjoyed the transfer, the intelligent plot, and the well written script. Its nice to finally see Clooney in something that isn't political ha.
