Default 'Basic Instinct (UK Import)' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter's review of "Basic Instinct (UK Import)' has been posted. He says the film is a hilarious, highly-entertaining trash-fest that ranks up there with Paul Verhoeven's best (and most lurid) epics. Plus, how can you argue with Sharon Stone wielding an ice pick? This HD DVD has a transfer comparable to the Lionsgate domestic Blu-ray and offers even better audio. Sadly, the supplements are notable only for their total absence. Still, this is worth a look if you want the movie on HD DVD.

Wow the reviewer is doing a great disservice to his readers by not mentioning the awful pitch issues with this release. Its pretty pathetic for a "professional" review to not even mention the issue. In fact, this is the only review of this title that hasen't mentioned the problem.

Compare it to the DVD and I doubt you would feel the same way.

But of course you won't admit that because you probably imported the movie for some inflated price and have to defend your purchase.

Yes, a little bit. The Blu-ray has heavy Noise Reduction filtering. The HD DVD is a little sharper and clearer. The audio pitch is distractingly high, however. It sounds like all the actors huffed helium.

Actually the prize of this film wasnīt so bad. I paid it total 10€:s. I have noticed that this GamerGuyX is very sensitive for the pitch problem. I think that average movie watcher doesnīt notice this probelm at all. But I must also say that I havenīt seen Basic Instinct on DVD so I canīt compare it to that.
And sorry for my bad english, Iīm from Finland so english isnīt my mother language.
