Thumbs up Ultimate Missions Collection -- High-Def Digest Review

Finally got through the entire M:I box set:

http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/missi...emissions.html

Pretty impressive! Solid transfers and soundtracks and tons of extras. Didn't love all the films, but I can't imagine a fan not wanting this...

drool.

Must be mine soon. I'm one of the few that didn't really mind MI2 all that much. I guess I liked the villian.

I personally really enjoyed MI:3. Haven't seen MI or MI:2 in quite sometime, so I'm curious to how they'll hold up.

Set is rather expensive in stores. Best bet is bestprices (currently $46.99 after 10 dollar google checkout). Only questionable thing is the set isn't shipping for people.

Nice review though Peter.

Where did you order yours from supermackem? I notice you're in the UK that's why I ask.

Thumbs up

Spun MI last night, hadn't seen it for ages. I liked the transfer, and from the review, I expect to like the other two even more

I've been following Peter's reviews since I got my HD-A1, and I really look forward to reading them. I don't know how you keep up with these titles as well as you do, Peter, but it's appreciated!

I ordered mine from US Direct (before I discovered cheaper companies) and the set arrived on Saturday.

Must say I'm most impressed with MovieTyme. Ordered some titles (two separate orders) from them on Sunday - both orders arrived today!

Unfortunately before I discovered MovieTyme I'd ordered most of my titles from DVD Empire - even single titles are arriving in a big padded box that effectively shouts "Heh Mr Customs - open me up and charge taxes". DVD Empire's prices look very cheap but if orders get split down into individual items the shipping really starts to mount up, even selecting the cheapest shipping method. So far US Direct have been the slowest (despite advertising as if they were a UK company and in all the mags they ship from the USA and you're subject to the same customs risks) and work out the most expensive because pricing is done at UK rates. DVD Empire initially looked to be the cheapest but the shipping charges mount up, and so far they seem to be taking the longest to arrive (I chose the cheapest shipping option but other companies include all shipping costs in their price).

If my experience with MovieTyme is realistic they look to be the best compromise between cost and delivery times/risk of stuff getting lost. They're certainly going to be getting my future orders - until they screw up anyway.

I've never even heard of US Direct before. I normally buy from Movietyme, although I know they are not the cheapest, they are quite reliable and the big plus point is that they are custom free. Given your experiences too, I think I'll stick with them!

Dvdworldusa for this release, as movietyme didnt have it up at the time i wanted to pre it. I would stick with movietyme mate there service is top notch and the added next day list is great. Dvdworldusa have so far sent me one disc that took more than a week to arrive and sent me a rattler that i sent back and im still awaiting a replacement. Im curious to see how they handle my mi boxset if its damaged in anyway or i get customs i wont be using them again.

They have half-page ads in a lot of the magazines (eg from memory DVD Review, Home Cinema Choice, SFX)

https://www.usdirect.co.uk/default.asp

Dislikes: Their email order doesn't list the titles you've ordered and there's no way of checking your orders online. Prices are a bit higher than most.

Likes: They've fulfilled the orders I sent to my satisfaction. Good arrived less than 10 days after they were ordered.

Sorry to totally change the subject, but does anyone care about "easter eggs"? I remember when they first started showing up on DVD, and then once the novelty wore off, it was a "yeah yeah... I don't even care..." thing.

Thoughts? Ideas about wheter the "eggs" are here to stay?

*I would post a new thread... but this is where the main page linked me. That to me, means that this is where Jed wants this subject talked about.*

I know DVD World USA were doing some good deals on the avforums.co.uk, although at the time I was waiting for the European players to be launched. Think I will stick with Movietyme then.
